Are daemon's really a lesser race? i for one have never beaten one nor seen one beaten ( sorry to go a lil off topic but this is for 40k as well) the new daemons is so powerful that it crushes it's foes with ease. any one want to post on how they fight with or against the new daemon horde's , previos game reviews, anything so i can know what to do in a upcoming local turny (player funded) 3k that i am currently in makeing of a list for? (got the money for selling my orcs and goblins finally! and it went directly to them lil skamps the lizies!)
I just played new deamons and they are insanely under priced. Core bloodletters 12 points per model WS5, S5, T3, Ld 8 I think with Hatred, with a 5+ ward save. Which is crazy considering most armies options at 12 pts. Also the flamers are beyond an unreasonable cost, 30 pts per model S5, T4, 2W, 5+ ward save, plus they have an 18 inch shooting attack that does D6 hits at S 4, for 30 pts with no misfire. Compared to the 65 pt salamanders? Anyway, I think Warhammer rushed this book and ultimately may have produced the most unbalanced army yet.
Daemons are great, the trouble is when making a list you want everything and it's really hard to fit it all in lol! This is the lesser race forum as there is no race superior to the lizardmen! muhahahahahaha! *ahem*
daemons hate shooting. lizardmen, wood elves and dwaves are the best armies to beat daemons with, skinks just destroy daemon units with there blow pipes. with just a 5+ ward they drop like flies, just keep out of combat for as long as possible.
Give me a fight against slaanesh, tzeentch, or khorne any day, but I HATE Nurgle daemons! They are the toughest ones to beat IMO. Whole blocks of decent fighting troops with a ward save AND regenerating? No thank you! plus their heralds are a bitch to kill and they can negate their own flanks/rear so it makes them a lot harder to beat via taking out their combat res. overall though mixed god daemons are the most dangerous. They can combine the best aspects of each god so resilience from nurgle, speed/psychology from slaanesh, magic from tzeentch, and straight up bashing from khorne. my advice is avoid bloodletters and plaguebearers for as long as possible and just shoot at them, destroy flamers quickly by any means possible, and if you can, challenge and kill the heralds out of their units as they buff up the unit and make it harder to kill.
Re: Daemon'sa fought them with HE i destroyed them i had a lord on a great eagle with a bolt thrower bow and 3 RBT a unit of 20 swordmasters a unit of 20 phoenix guard a unit of 15 white lions 20 archers 2 caddy's and i can't remember exactly what he had i know he had a bloodthirster a unit of slanneshi a unit of bloodletters some screamers and i can't remember the rest i just focused my big fire on the bloodthirster till he went down and waited until he came to me with his troops my lions were for flanking as they can move through woods and are very nasty granted he is a pretty new player to WFB so may not be as effective as i make it sound
Indeed! Heavy deamon blocks is best picked apart from a range, and Flamers are just bad! You know, I would have thought the same.. Until I saw what kind of carnage deamons can dish out in one turn, and if your opponent knows what he's doing, he'll consentrate his fire on your skirimishers and then out manouver you. I lost 20 skinks in my first round to tzeentch magic and shooting, and I myself fielded a 2gen slann and a priest or two... Thats my opinion as well.
Hopefully.. I think I'll still go with a heavy magic list vs deamons. To me it feels like the most appealing approach to 7th edit lizzardmen, although thouse spearblocks does look tempting..
The nice thing is GW kinda realized their over-powered book so designed ALOT of Lizardmen features just to bash back our most ancient and hated foe.
Yeah, and to me that was one of the best improvement the lizardmen got. The abillity to make "less obvious armies" and to completly take our opponent by surprise. Diversity is the key word here
I plat daemons and I actually just got 1st place a few days ago in a tournament with about 15 people. It was a tournament for 2250 and I actually use a really well balanced list, I actually had a great comp score. I dont use greater daemons as I think they are not necassary in 2250pt lists, I do use a daemon prince WITHOUT wings. He is more like a varghulf on steroids and not really all that powerful. I only have 2 level 1 casters and 4 dispel dice. What did make a huge difference for me in every game was the standard of sundering, daemon players would be wise to not leave this at home as it gives the enemy -2 to cast spells and makes lore of light spells miscast on a double 1, 2, and 3! I played against lizardmen, vampires, and chaos warriors and the chaos warriors actually drawed with me the last round and I think it was his cheesy terrible comp army that lost him the tournament. I agree some daemons are hard to deal with but a big unit of plagebearers is not hard to avoid (m 4) and large numbers of flamers will usually get your comp knocked. As will greater daemons. Bloodletters get mowed down like grass to even light enemy fire, as do daemonetts. I dont think they are overpowered but I think alot of daemon players really whore certain builds and units, giving them a bad reputation.
