Generally the 8th edition rule books have barely changed anything at all fluffwise from the 7th ed books. Wood Elves don't have a 6th edition book.

I was just thinking, Wood Elves are confirmed to be getting High AND Dark magic. I hope there will be an interesting story involved there but I wouldn't count on GW writing that. They'll probably hand wave it. Still, since the most recent WE book is VERY old they might actually get some new fluff.

Also, with the whole light and dark thing, maybe in 9th edition Wood Elves will cease being a Force of Order and get lumped in with the morally ambivalent Tomb Kings and Ogre Kingdoms. While I think the WHF world can use more "neutral" races I fear that oversimplifies elves. While I thought it was odd when I started 8th edition that the part time warriors that make up the High Elves have ASF and the Spartan Dark Elves did not, I'm not sure I like the convergence that has occurred. It seems to me that the Dark Elves and High Elves are not very distinctive from each other. I fear the Wood Elves may be oversimplified too. High Elves = good, Dark Elves = bad, Wood Elves = in between.
