    Ok people help me out
My first proper 8th edition game and I got dwarfs (great)
    It’s happening Sunday
His list is in a typical dwarf fashion a gun line
I’m expecting a cannon an organ gun, thunderers quarrelers and he's hinting at the anvil :(
    I was running
    The prophet of Sotek
    Mr. Albino Saurus
A skink chief with javelins a pretty cloak that lets him fly and a nasty poison
We got a box of Saurus with spears (16) they have full command over the battle
Some skink skirmishers (12) and a very brave one in there
More skink in a cohort (13) one has been practicing with his bongos another is very brave
Some huge crocodiles spelled with a k
And 3 of my sister’s friend’s sally sally and sally

At 1250 you won't need to worry about an anvil, it's too expensive for the 25% cap on Lords.

If you don't have an Engine I would just use terrain to block line of sight and take advantage of your superior movement. Gun lines are incredibly fragile in close combat so you will destroy him once you get there.

Not as true with Dwarf gunlines. They still have 4 toughness, armor (and possibly shields) and great leadership. I would still engage them in CC, just soften the up with those Sallies first

(disclosure: I'm a Dwarf general primarily, but I do not run a gun line (100+ Warriors FTW!)). Yes Dwarfs are individually very tough, but Dwarf shooting troops only have Light Armour and (if the general is smart) shields which really isn't much when you consider the number of attacks the average infantry unit is putting out now.

Plus without the volleyfire special rule, if you want to maximize your shots you really can't have more than 2 ranks so there is basically no static combat resolution to be had without sacrificing an entire shooting turn to reform. Even a weak goblin unit can take out a Dwarf shooting unit in 1 turn in 8th.
