Do people still play with the BRB lores? High Magic is great but I face a lot of Chaos armies, with 3+ ward save lords, mobile demon princes and hard hitting chariots. In these games, besides arcane unforging or fiery convocation, I find that there isn't much reliable damage output early on. I guess I could cast hand of glory on a stegadon's great bow or on some razordons, but I usually want to keep hand of glory for later rounds of combat. What are your thoughts on a list with a death slann? Here are some threats that I believe this list provides: 1. Early character/monster/war machine sniping through the flying skink 2. Wounds caused from death magic provide power dice for the bound spells 3. EoTG isn't great anymore, but -1 on Death will be helpful and the 6+ ward is helpful to spear saurus and temple guard 4. Doom and Darkness: great with salamanders and auto-panic tests, also bastiladons/stegadons cause terror and can make units flee 5. A boosted Soulblight will help skirmishers wound warriors on a 4+ Thanks for taking a look and I appreciate your input. Looks like a tough list. I'd like to see some more gear on your Slann, like a BSB or some more disciplines, but that's your call. Also remember that the Solar Engine competes for the same dice as Lore of Death. Make sure you try to get some wounds with Death to beef up your Power Dice pool before you start blasting your lazerz.
yes, death is still quite popular. it allows you to go relatively cheap on the slann (channeling staff/discipline) and also run an oldblood on a cold one. its pretty irrelevant to bring a rule book lore slann without abusing the extra lord points you'll get. nothing else in the book is worth sacrificing the points.
