Tactica request - Defence against the Dark Arts for First Years. Preferably by Professor Quirius Quirrel, or Professor Gildroy Lockehart, if Quirrel can't face it. Content: Which spells from each lore (including Dark, Nehekhara etc) are "Must Dispel" and why. Which of these have other counters. How to prioritize dispel dice (I hate ending a phase with a handful of DD when the opponent flubs or IFs their last spell) Happy for this to use small words and patient instruction. Bob is no magician of note. Thanks, SoB
Re: Defense against the Dark Arts for First Years byProf Qui Dude, Quirrell died. Some lucky Level 1 double 6'd The Fate of Bjuna on him.
Re: Defence against the Dark Arts for First Years byProf Qui What abot Prof Gildroy Lockhart, then? I can't remember if he was any good.....
Re: Defence against the Dark Arts for First Years byProf Qui Lockheart sucked, but it was pretty good at pretending he was competent and taking credit for the work of others.
Re: Defence against the Dark Arts for First Years byProf Qui Lockheart sucked at almost everything, except for one spell. At that one spell he was fantastic. Almost as fantastic as he made himself out to be. Almost.
Re: Defence against the Dark Arts for First Years byProf Qui I am working on a thread for this (without Harry Potter tangents). I plan to brief covering of the BRB lores and High Magic and an in-depth coverage Vampire Counts and Orc and Goblins from my own experience. Then some coverage on the Tomb Kings that is a mix of theory hammer and actual experience and a pure Theoryhammer coverage of the Chaos Lores (unless I get a volunteer with more experience to cover it). I've played Wood Elves a few times, I came to the conclusion that the Lore of Athel Loren is the worst lore ever, so there is no need to brief people on defense there. The few players in my area with Chaos Dwarfs prefer BRB lores over the Lore of Hashut, but I can do a mostly theory-hammer based CD section if there is demand. If someone with more experience fighting Chaos Dwarfs wants to talk about strategic defense, let me know. I have never played the Dark Elves even under the old book and I do not own a new book (and I'm not going to go buy one because my funds are tight and no one in my area plays them), so I need someone else to cover Dark Magic and general Dark Elf magic phases. I don't own a Skaven book either and only played them once (and it was a team game where my Dwarf friend shut down their magic phase), so I am not qualified to talk about them either. Pretty much the same for Beastmen and their fancy Lore. If you guys want to help me on this, you can PM and I'll credit you for your contribution, or you can wait till I post the actual thread. Perhaps we can name the Thread Lupin's Workshop or Snape's Lessons.
Re: Defence against the Dark Arts for First Years byProf Qui So that one spell. It is a "MUST Dispel" is it? That is the sort of info I am seeking.
Re: Defence against the Dark Arts for First Years byProf Qui Purple sun, boosted soul blight, mind razor, pit of shades, dwellers, Curse of Anhir, plague, skaven's wither, 13th spell, wind of undeath, light of death (bound from casket), Fiery Convocation, boosted troll guts, Savage Dominion, nurgles bubbled regen for warriors of chaos, slaaneshes boosted choir, warpath, and Black Horrors. Basically, my must dispel list are spells that hit whole units/multiple units and typically have an on going effect. I'll take any hit from lore of fire to be able to stop a boosted soul blight. -Matt
Re: Defence against the Dark Arts for First Years byProf Qui Well Matt saved me from making a lengthy Tactica. I'm not sure if I'm happy or unhappy about this.
Re: Defence against the Dark Arts for First Years byProf Qui Thanks Matt. I would still like to know what they do, though.
Re: Defence against the Dark Arts for First Years byProf Qui they feth up your units if left undispelled in short
Re: Defence against the Dark Arts for First Years byProf Qui Your lucky I have too much free time on my hands Bob
