So I got some comments saying I was a bastard for manipulating the rules before, but this one should bring the evil out... So let's say I'm running a slann in a unit of saurus with full command and two scar vets. By the rules the slann, or any of the heroes really, can go into the second rank if there isn't enough space in the first without displacing the command models. In other words if I ran the unit five wide the front rank would consist of the two heroes, the standard bearer, musician, and champion. Now when combat starts I CAN displace command models with a Make Way move, but I wouldn't want to with the slann. Here's the question: what happens if the champion dies? The slann cannot fit into a single mode's space, and cannot displace the command, does he just sit in the second rank? I'm asking this not because I want to do it, I'll probably run "commando slann" out by himself, but a LOT of other lists are using this trick and when I looked at it I ran into this weird situation. I think he still stays in the second rank untill the temple gard are dead... either that or he goes to the front where there are only 3 left. Ps. any other time the Slann must be in the second rank of the temple guard..
I was actually think about a Saurus unit, not Temple Guard. The Sacred Duty rule, I think that's is but I don't have my book on hand, handles that for Temple Guard but for Saurus there's no rule and the Slann would normally have to be in the front. Pyre
I think you already answered your own question: If there simply isn't enough room, then the toad stays in the second rank until in this case one of the veterans die. BR Agrem
Agree with Agrem. You choose which characters go in the front, and when the choice is already made you wouldn't have to shuffle for an optimum fit. Champ dies, there still isn't space for the Slann to move up.
