I've been thinking of putting together a lizardmen army, there are a handful of lists that have been bouncing around in my head, but I think I might enjoy playing this list more than some of my others. Who doesn't like having dinosaurs around. Code: Saurus Old-Blood 455 Carnosaur Blade of Realities Enchanted Shield Light Armor Skink Priest 415 Level 2 Engine of the Gods Dispel Scroll Skink Priest 415 Level 2 Engine of the Gods Dispel Scroll Skink Chief 405 Ancient Stegadon Steagadon War Spear Battle Standard Bearer Skirmishing Skinks x 10 70 Skirmishing Skinks x 10 70 Skirmishing Skinks x 10 70 Terradon Riders x 4 120 Terradon Riders x 4 120 Chameleon Skinks x 9 108 I really like the idea of having an entirely fast-moving list, particularly because it lets me pick up things that I tend to miss out on otherwise (carnosaur, stegadon war-spear). I've thought about grabbing diadem of power for extra dispelling, swapping my Old-Blood's weapon to a Scimitar, but I'm not sure which way to take these decisions. Any thoughts would be much appreciated though.
On the Oldblood's weapon, you really just need to figure out what your list will struggle against more. Tzunki is the armor-busting option, but you already have 2 EotG's for that. The scimitar is nice for killing lots of lightly armored stuff, and give him a better shot against enemy blocks, unless they are highly armored. Personally I would take the Blade of Realities so that your Carno Lord can go after big beast units that the enemy will use to go after your weak skink heroes. You may want to check out some posts I did called "Battle of the Oldbloods", where I took each of the big weapon choices for the Oldblood and ran the numbers against different armies. It might help you make up your mind.
That was an interesting series of threads, it helps that I'm a sucker for running numbers. I think I'm sold on the Blade of Realities until my army gets some games under it's belt. I like the idea of having a specialized creature-killer, edits will go back into the first list to reflect this. It does leave me a little worried about having an overly-squishy lord, but hopefully the non-large-carosaur and screening skinks will keep me alive.
Yeah, the big drawback on the BoR is no ward save option, but you can at least toss him the Enchanted shield and get 1+ armor. Screening is key, but the good thing about the Carnosaur as opposed to tucking him into a unit of saurus is that you will get to choose your engagements. Just avoid killing blow stuff as much as possible and you should be ok.
