The Kroq-Gar I order finally arrived at the shop and I picked it up today. I opened it up when I got home like a kit with their new toy, and boy was I disappointed. There are many air bubbles. They are not big, however they do appear at the most annoying places. at the tip of a sharp spike for example. The bubbles also made a lot of supposedly sharp teeth and claws not that sharp. The crest of the carnosaur was also chipped by a tiny bubble. However the worst part is the fit. The legs and tails are nightmares. It almost seem like they model this carnosaur twice and mix the parts so that a nice fit cannot be achieved. There seems to be no way to make it stand on flat ground. The two feet are so uneven that after a lot of cutting at the joints, there will still be no way it will stand on its base with both feet flat on the ground. I must make it stand on some sort of stone etc. The spear is crooked. Mine is not metal so there is no way to straighten it. I wonder if all resin finecast is like that (my first resin model), I must say for what I paid I wasn't expecting gaps that wide and that many air bubbles. Back in the 5th where special models are all medal, the fit was actually much better, and rarely so many air bubbles. I think this is both due to material and design. In older models they avoid spikes and sharp, thin edges. Any of you had assembled a Kroq Gar? How do you find it? I would guess the metal version is better.
Yea this is because they used the same worn out mold as the metal one.... that version doesn't fit together very well either. you can use realy hot water to soften up the resin so you can bend it a bit, this should help with the lance, and mayb the feet. Ps. if the bubbles are realy bad, you can call GW's complaint line and they will ship you a new one.
This is why I will never choose resin over metal figures, the quality is horrendous, although easier to assemble, air bubbles and detail blemishes are plenty. I picked up the metal Kroq-Gar model on ebay really cheap, I should of pinned the joints but couldn't find my drill anywhere, so I used blue tack combined with super glue to make an extra strong bond, and it worked fine! Moral of the story, whenever you can; never choose resin.
I had the same problem. 1st one was absolute crap. Called gw sent out a new one. Carnosaur had holes in its face one nearly 1/4 inch. Called them up again. The sent out just the top part of the carnosaur with postage due. I won't buy finecast again.
