7th Ed. Do we fall to WoC?

    Have lizardmen got anything over WoC?
    (apart from its fairly pitiful shooting ability)
    12 INCHES OF FIRE POWER
    Dont mention magic plz

    I've only played WoC once.

    It was a 1k tourney and I killed every single model of his by the end of my turn three. I had lost 4 saurus warriors and had not conceded a single VP. I had no magic at all. Flank and rear charges ftw.

    Our shooting may only be 12" but the effective range is 18".

    Basically if you are the kind of player who forms a battle line and pushes it forwards each turn then you will lose. Otherwise WoC are an easy match-up (though there is one build I thought of that could be quite nasty), even without magic. At 2k I will be using magic though, and a slann should melt them.

    our saurus with spears can win out against warriors, our SCOC can compete with their mounted knights. For us the main thing we need to shut down are their Marauder cavalry. If we can do that then we can win fairly easily, at least this is what I find. The Warriors of Chaos army is so very linear in its design that we can easily manipulate what we know about them. Warriors are hard but slow, chosen are harder but just as slow. Knights are hard and have good movement but are going to be found in the middle of the table, marauders are cheap and ineffective against everything but our ranked skinks (even then we still have the stand and shoot reaction). Marauder horsemen are a different kettle of fish, they are fairly cheap so they can come in high numbers, they are fast, M8 I believe, and can have either a decent save (4+ with shield) or can hit hard on the charge (+2 str up to 5 with flails).
    As it stands if we match up out units correctly, none of the WOC units can definitely win without support thus it is imperative to eliminate the units they have as support units, those would be; giants (skinks rock the giants scissors), and marauder horsemen.

    nvm, battled them today and 1. even though with the rules we were playing with his entire army was unbreakable. It was also 400 points larger than mine. :smug:

    I played a WoC player last night with a pretty cheesy list. No special characters but mostly an all mounted army with lots of warriors and tough magic.

    Wiped him by turn 4.

    -I think that our main key against them ( and pretty much any army ) is to have 2x engine of the gods. That pretty much can balance a victory if used correctly.

    -Also as stated here, our saurus infantry can pretty much put up a fight against their warriors, remember we have one of the best infantry units too!

    What about their Sorcerer Lords on Chaos Dragon? They can out manover our file and rank units and can eat saurus warriors like chips on flank charges... they can get 4+/3+ ward saves against Shooting and Magic... The true power of WoC list in their heroes not their units... Exalted Hero on Steed of slaanesh with glaive of putrefaction... can destroy Stagedon or EoG easly...
