Okay guys, end of year is drawing near, and so are all my assignment due dates, most irritatingly my maths project is. I'm doing a analysis on any correlation between car accidents and mobile phone use. It's normally anonymous, but well, we're all anons here so yeah. Any replies would be helpful, SO LONG AS you actually do have a license! Also, it would be very, very appreciated if you could pass this on to any friends/family you have who are eligible for the survey So, can you just respond here with a post? No need to copy the questions, just answer line-for-line please (unless you'd rather copy it all and blah blah). Anyways, here it is: 1: Have you ever been participated in any car accidents? How many? (If no, please skip the rest of the questions, than you for your time) 2: How many minor (Unreported, mostly dents and stuff like that) accidents, if any, have you been involved in while using your mobile phone? 3: How many major (Reported serious card damage, people injured, etc) accidents, if any, have you been involved in while using your mobile phone? 4: If you have been involved in any of the above situations what were you doing on your mobile phone? Talking? texting? other? (please specify) 5: Have you ever been in an accident (minor or major) when the other driver(s) have been using a mobile phone? (if yes, how many?) 6: If yes, was it a minor or major accident? Thank you all for your time!
Alright, I can help you out. 1. Yes, 4 total, 2 with me driving (not sure which you wanted). 2. None* 3. None 4. - 5. No ('if yes, how many', what how many phones were they using? ) 6. - *There was one time when I was texting driving on a dirt road, looked up and saw I was veering off of it, clipped a small hill at the edge before getting back onto the road. Absolutely no damage, didn't even panic me to swerve just correct my direction and clip the bump at the edge of the road. Not sure if you would count that or not.
My boring responses: 1. Yes, 4 (add 2 more for Deer) 2. 0 3. 0 4. N/A 5. No, 0 6. N/A On the boring note, I try not to use my cell phone at all while driving. Also, I commute (via train) 3 out of 4 work days for each week. One day, I work from home. Of the remaining 3 days, I usually only drive maybe one day. Like I said, boring.
1: Have you ever been participated in any car accidents? How many? (If no, please skip the rest of the questions, than you for your time) Yes I have. 3 that I remember not including hitting deer. Including deer... about 7. 2: How many minor (Unreported, mostly dents and stuff like that) accidents, if any, have you been involved in while using your mobile phone? None. 3: How many major (Reported serious card damage, people injured, etc) accidents, if any, have you been involved in while using your mobile phone? None. 4: If you have been involved in any of the above situations what were you doing on your mobile phone? Talking? texting? other? (please specify) N/A 5: Have you ever been in an accident (minor or major) when the other driver(s) have been using a mobile phone? (if yes, how many?) No. 6: If yes, was it a minor or major accident? N/A Same with me - sorry for the boring answers. Good luck on your paper! - Lord Cedric
Wow.... Dude... That's a lot of deer I'm not sure if that counts or not, but if so, I think you'll be an anomaly haha. But thanks, much appreciated! @ Strew thanks for the bonus info, and it's good to see you're still here! And i'm not sure if the dirt road did or didn't count.... I'll check what my teacher says.... >< @ Arli not boring, helpful! Anyways, it's good that you take it safe! Again, thanks for the time guys, down to my last ~25 results needed!
Okay, I think I can help So, can you just respond here with a post? No need to copy the questions, just answer line-for-line please (unless you'd rather copy it all and blah blah). Anyways, here it is: 1: 1 2: 1, no cellphone involved 3: 0 4: N/A 5: Yup, the gf rear ended a subaru lolz 6: Minor
Yeah. As Arli noted, we do have lots of deer here in the states. I live in southwest Michigan on 520+ acres of land with thick woods, some wetlands and a river in the back of my property. Herds of deer live around here and are always moving while under the cover of darkness. So most of my deer accidents happened on my way to work. There are so many crop fields around here, especially corn, that they easily hide in the edges of the fields and get spooked when you drive close to them, often resulting in them jumping blindly infront of you or literally hitting your side of the vehicle. Not sure that you needed that info, lol, but thought I would give an explanation. - Lord Cedric
Thanks Guardian Hahaha I gotta say, despite that being rather unfortunate (and pretty costly?) it is pretty funny that they'd just sorta.... jump into the side of your car....
Yeah. hehe. Deer are known for their stupidity. Costly? Yeah, but usually not to the drivers. Its pretty inconvenient though when you're out a vehicle for a while. Michigan has pretty good insurance just for the deer and most Michigan's insurance companies acknowledge that they are a liability. Im sure there is some compensation from the State as they are considered "state-owned". My insurance company lifted the deductible fee in a deer accident as they know its something that is uncontrolable for the driver.... of course, Im sure it helps that my best friend is also my insurance agent. :-D - Lord Cedric
Thats funny lol But it does happen. Luckily most comprehensive car insurance in The States pays for collisions with animals.
Yes they do, but many won't waive the deductible. I just hope that someday, deer will wake up with a decent brain and decide they want nothing to do with vehicles and just sit back with other brother bucks, eat grain and sip beer. :-D
On a similar and funny note. I once read an article where a consumer complained that the deer were to heavy and that they should move the deer crossing signs to a less traveled road. Let that sink in...... No kidding. Like the deer look for the signs...
hehehe.. yeah! I read that once on a buddy's Facebook posting. Looked like it was cut from a Newspaper. lol.
