Did you upgrade Steg to sharpened horns? I would find a way if you didn't, its just so useful for stuff like monstrous cav. The only points I can see you freeing up is a couple temple guard I suppose, and maybe rework some cohort guys into skirmishers. An extra redirecting unit seems more useful than a big blob of cohorts, especially with only one krox. I only see the Skrox unit useful for bunkering the priest and protecting a rear/flank area or capturing objectives so they dont really need to be quite that big to fill those roles.

Are sharpened horns that much of a must then on Steggies? I always saw monster upgrades as a "Nice to have if you got the points". I will take another look.

Agree i can drop some skinks to accomodate points, im just worried about how fragile they can be hence the number of them. The idea to hold back or be bait - Who can resist the opportunity to squish alot of skinks?

In my opinion, Sharpened Horns are nice to have, but not mandatory. I think I am in the minority on this one though.

My view is that Sharpened Horns cost the same for Ancient Steggies and regular Stegadons but you get more out of the deal with Ancients. So for me, I would only forgo the upgrade on the Ancient if points are very tight but I would only take the upgrade for the regular Stegadon if I have points left over.

True that the horns aren't mandatory, but the way I look at it the upgrade is only 3 skinks. Going from 36 to 33 skinks isn't going to change the function of that unit at all whether they are bait, objective grabbers, or clean up crew. Whereas increasing your impact hits to D3 wounds could explode monstrous stuff in one shot if you are lucky. Three skinks chilling in the 4th or 5th ranks aren't pulling any lucky game changing moves.

Isn't the Egg for enemy units in base contact? If you plan on putting your Slann in with the temple guard I don't think this would have much affect. Maybe you could get the horn upgrade from dropping that item.

I would also suggest finding a way to get another Kroxigor in but that may just be my bias because I always have one that misses all his attacks. Maybe you could drop the egg, add the horns and then you would just need to take out 5 skink cohorts to add it in.
