I think Sotek would do better then Quetzl, especially considering you already have a T5, a 1+ save and sometimes 4+ ward without it. You should invest in a handy spear to give him higher strength on the charge.

I would also advise dropping the Shield of the Mirrored Pool. The slim chance of your Oldblood ever being attacked with a magic missile and then rolling a 4+ does not justify the cost.

Sword of Might would be better IMO as would Sotek over Quetzl.

I can see why you need these (you can't fit Tepok on your Saurus heroes) and I can also see why you would upgrade to level 2 to possibly take advantage of a weak magic defence but in the end your character choices are indecisive as a whole because of these (perhaps drop 1 of them for a JSoD and try to fit in a few Tepoks?).

Maybe 10 to many given the rest of your list is centred around 'brute force' rather the skirmishing.

If I where you I would exchange this for as many Salamanders as you can get. Salamanders are just to darn overpowered to not max out on.

Sorry i accidentally forgot to type in the weapon i had given my oldblood. i agree though that i should change his shield, what about the maiming shield?

As for the Scar-Vet, i have found the sword of the hornet very useful considering the low initiative of a saurus block, it makes sure that i get a couple good hits in before they have a chance to slaughter my front line and break me (hopefully saving a few of my saurus and getting their attacks later in combat)

Could you think of another way to fight magic than with 2 priests? i have tried and one simply isn't enough. plus with 2 i find that i have a chance at a little bit of a magic phase, a portent of far here and there is always welcome.

i like the idea of dropping a unit of skinks, but one unit of scouts would only buy me one salamander, and I really like the smashing power of a Stegadon, expecially when he next to te general and has leadership 8

Maiming shield is alright though probably not as cost effective as a normal shield.

I would strongly suggest you do not take the blade of realities unless you know you will be playing daemons. It is far to expensive for what it does in an all comers list and compromises his hitting power (he only has S5 not S6 from spear or GW).

Sword of the Hornet is quite good and you should keep it if you like it (I have had great success using it as you described in the past). I still think Sword of Might is the better all-round choice though.

Blessed spawnings of Tepok on your Saurus characters is really the only alternative to the priests (I suggest you carefully weigh up what +1 armour from Quetzl is giving you and how it compares to the slightly increased cost of Tepok for a dispel dice).

If you like the Priests and the Stegadon then keep them! Only you know what fits your play style.

    Yeh that looks pretty solid.

I'm interested to see how the Cruse Charm of Tepok works out.
