If there is a character in the unit do you roll for him separately to the unit? or just add him to the unit number and the unit takes the casualty?
Thats what I presumed would happen, but wanted to know for next time I used it ended up killing one of his heroes with it
This is one of the reason why people are complaining so much about magic in 8th edition. There are a couple of spells (dwellers, purple sun) that allows neither LOS nor wardsaves and that kills instantly. Personally I play light so that I wont be tempted to throw 6 dice a round on his caster or general unit just to wipe them out early game.
Indeed, I was able to cast it twice in one game. took out nearly the entire unit and nearly two of his heroes.
I think its been FAQ'd to allow a LOS roll. At my home club we house ruled in a LoS for dwellers as well for just that reason.
The main rulebook FAQ includes magical vortex spells now as one of the things LOS can be taken against. This: Q: Does the ‘Look Out Sir’ special rule apply against all spells that use templates? (p93) A: Yes And this: Page 93 – Champions and Shooting Change the third paragraph to “The only exceptions to this are attacks that use a template (such as cannons, stone throwers, breath weapons, magical vortexes and so on).” Dwellers, on the other hand, doesn't use a template, and I can't find anything that indicates LOS can be used. Which is very unfortunate, if you ask me. Way to go if your house rules allow it.
LOS isn't a save its a USR with a function simmilar to save, saves however are used for wounds while LOS is used for hits.
Universall special rule. Altho look out sir isn't even that it is a "roll" and as per RAW not a save (which as i said is used for wounds). Bsides with the FAQ as proof you can just tell your opponent your character gets LOS cuz GW said so.
