i have only played the 8 edition so i was just asking what edition is best and have they got better or worse have the figures got bettter or worse to
I've only played from 6th, and those 3 didn't really have too much different about them... From what I have seen and heard of 5th ed, it looked like it was a lot of fun. There are plenty of 8th ed rules I don't really like, but I think its just a matter of getting used to it. I probably had the most fun with 7th ed, mainly because my High Elves were actually competative. PS Thanks for the note in your sig. I especially laughed at the irony of you spelling my username wrong when complaining about me saying you should try to spell a bit better.
I learned to play on 7th and 7 months in switched to 8th. I enjoy the 8th better. Some things suck (no 360 view on skirmishers), but for the most part, its all good.
Been playing since 5th (herohammer!). Core rules-wise 7th was best but the army books threw the balance out the window. Also, Slann are neither transsexual nor transmissions, so your user name confuses me.
I would have to say late 6th edition to early 7th edition was my favorite time to play. The games were fairly balanced and you won because of good generalship, not good dice rolls. Not that good dice rolls decide things now, but they certainly can have a large impact.
cool ive seen only the seventh and eighth have been picked and from what ive seen around the forum every one seemed to hate the eighth how about the models what is best for that
An ancient stegadon maybe Anyway i voted 8th as it runs a bit smoother, making the game go faster, allowing for more fun in less time. PS: Claiming that good generalshinp could beat the dice in any eddition seems unfounded, it's a game where outcomes are decided by dice and allways has been.
yeah Hoverboy is correct about the dice rolling vs. good generalship. the statement should be; Good Generalship can help negate the effects of adverse Dice Rolling conditions.
I kinda wish I had voted 5th ed now, just so it had something... My early few games of WHFB were a hybrid of 5th and 6th, mostly 5th but with the army books of 6th, because that is waht my friend 'knew'. They were fun. My first game ever would have been 5th, but I honestly don't think the core mechanism has changed much even up to 8th so since it comprised of no characters at all, just 3-4 blocks on either side, and a castle, most of the rules unique to 5th didn't really shine through.
Only problem I had with 5th edition was it was all about the over powered heroes, I played a Daemon army once with a bloodthirster having a possible 60 attacks a turn (if he was allowed in my unit it would of been 120 possible lol) I prefer how it is done now, cause it limits the amount of heroes but also not allowing one uber character with the limit on points for items on them
Started playing in 5th, only played friends so we didn't abuse the system, it was lots of fun with a lot of details like shooting off chariot crew and having it randomly rampage around and so on. Lizards save couldn't be modified below 6+ and skinks had 6+ saves, always cool saving those and making ninja comments. Oldest slann was a power house in combat WS6, S6, T5, W8, A8. But as said lots of balance issues and herohammer. 6th and 7th started great but devolved into skirmish domination and armybook creep. 8th is deathstar heaven and dice rolling exercise but with restrictions it might just turn out great. The best, I don't know maybe start of 6th.
O for the days of 4th. The 6+ invulnerable save for all, from the lowest Skink on up. Salamanders with a 24 inch range and blast template. Short bows where the order of the day, none of these blowpipes. 1st level Slann wizards… ok I could have gotten along without the last one. Don’t get me wrong, I love 8th, but the time I had 20 six’s come up when my skinks where attacked by daemons will always be treasured.
I've played for a long time but I voted 7th since that consolidated and fixed up a lot of rules. Probably because I know that edition the best as well. 8th seems like a ploy by GW to make us buy lots more minis to make the bigger units. It's still fun though. Instead of units of 20 slaan I now have to have units of 25, no big deal I guess, when you've already spent so much money on the hobby. I hope they don't make such major changes to 6th ed. 40k when it comes out next year...
I would love a unit of 20 slann And there doing that cause they need the money, afterall it is a business for them.
