So... Does Burning Alignment (or Burning Ailment as I call it...) hit units that are tied up in CC? Direct Damage spells can't target units in CC, going off the BRB...

Well it did in the last book... :shifty:
I think the wording is still the same...?

As long as we don't have a FAQ on our book there is no clear answer to this.
RAW it does not because of being direct damage, as you stated.

i don't have the book here, but if the wording is similar to the kroak spell it should affect units in CC. The BRB states that a spell can target a unit following the base spell restrictions UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED. Direct damages description only says that you cannot cast a DD to a friendly unit. Every unit in the spell range sounds like "otherwise stated" to me ;)

The rules state that you cannot target a unit in combat with Direct Damage spells but Burning Allignment doesn't target any units at all - it states that it "does damage to every enemy unit within the range". So it does hit all enemy units, even in combat.

Actually, it does target.
Burning alignment is a direct damage spell that targets every enemy units within 4D6"

So it becomes a question of, does target every enemy over rule the general restriction of must be in arc of sight and not in combat?

IMO, it does hit them all.
