how does this work? can the priest back down? or does he have to fight? how do you deal with this? ive bin playing as he has to fight, and he keeps getting destroed!
He can't refuse the challenge since he doesn't have any ranks to hide in. Simple as that, but remember that the EoTG can fight too. Cheers!
The trick is to attack the flank of units when you put it into combat, because the character issuing the challenge needs to be in the fighting rank and they would be at the front. But yeah if he gets challenged all you can do is hope the 2+ armour save is enough.
People really should read their book more.. the Ancient Stegadon gives a 2+ AS for its Riders and has a 3+ him/herself.. Though.. Challenged by a Wight King once.. stupid Sword of Kings!
dammit i tottaly missed that. and i think when some people make passive agresive snips it make thm look like twats, as politnes never cost you anything
Re: EOTG and challenges Not really meant that way..It is just that it seems to happen alot..but hey who am I to be called twat every once in a while! Let's not go on with this. The 2+ Save doesn't really save your priest from dieing, being challenged is still pretty dangerous.. although the steg will hit the challenger aswell so you never know what could happen. Like Strewart said.. getting in the flank works.. but if a character moves to the side the stegadon in his/her movement phase it is still able to challenge.
Thing is, being in a challenge isn't a bad thing necessarily. In fact, you may want issue the challenge yourself, depending on the situation. See, if your in a challenge, the only enemy model that can attack the rather squishy priest is the other guy in the challenge. If your not in a challenge, the enemy model/character can still go ahead and attack the priest, and every other enemy model eligible to attack can allocate their attacks on the priest as well. So, issuing the challenge can reduce the number of attacks coming your way.
Re: EOTG and challenges Certainly, the character can move to the flank in his turn. I would imagine any unit in a position to be shuffling characters after being hit in the flank by a US10 terror causing s6 monster with impact hits probably shouldn't have been charged by the engine in the first place though. @IronShark, possibly a good move. I definitely wouldn't issue a challenge on the turn I charged though. Better to maul the unit a bit first since really, the point of getting into combat is to kill them and win combat, not to protect the priest. If it was only a unit champion it might be worth challenging, but it does take all the stegs attacks away from the rest of the unit.
