This week was the first nite of our new Escalation League. Its a little different as we are starting at warbands level with only 200 points per army and climbing from there.

    Quick rules summary:
Every army needs a general which can be a character or a unit Champion (to take a champion though you need to field the unit as a unit of 10)
Min unit size is 5 for 20mm 3 for 25mm 1 for larger.
For magic spells are chosen with d3 meaning you can only get the signature or spells 1,2,3. (Which for heavens blows badly, not gonna be worth 65 points for quite a while)
Also each side secretly rolls for an objective worth bonus points (Kill general, capture a standard, control more zones, end up with your army in their starting area.)

    Lizardmen Mighty Force 1:
    9 Saurus + 1 Champion = 122 pts
    6 Skink Skirmishers w/ Jav = 48
    6 Skink Cohorts = 30

I played on the same table each time and strangly on the same side as well.
Heres the table, my position was the bottom

Game 1 vs my fellow Lizardmen
My opponent had an interesting list of
4 Chameleons (With Brave as general)
    1 Kroxigor
    13 Skirmishers in two units

I played my cohorts and saurus close enough to the right side that there was no 12 inch gap for the chamo’s. Placed my skirmishers close enough to F1 so his chamo’s would be outside the forest.

His chamos placed as expect and his skirmishers and Kroxigor were placed in a line as close as possible.

    Turn 1:
I won first turn and marched my skirmishers around the forest for a clear shot at the chamo’s. Needing 7’s to hit was rough and nothing landed. Saurus marched forward and cohort cut across to help with chamo’, (I really wanted to kill his general for bonus points).

His turn, chamos darted into the forest (Rolls for it to be a Wildheart forest of whompin) and somehow whiff on all blowpipes. Kroxigor and skimishers march downfield with one unit ending in the woods (fear woods) and one on the hill, Krox in the middle. Woods miss their attack unfort.

    Turn 2:
I decided that 6 skirmishers with Jav was gonna eventually lose to 4 chamos in the woods so they declare a charge from close enough that stand and shoot isn’t an option. Jav’s and shields kill two and loose none, Chamos break, Skinks persue and run them down but don’t quite make it out of the woods. D6 str 4 hits could ruin that unit for sure. Saurus have a really long charge to make the Kroxigor but felt possible on the skinks in the fear woods so I charged them and came up short losing one model to the stand and shoot. Cohorts move closer to the enemy skirmishers on the hill and kill one at long range.

    His Turn
Kroxigor moves past saurus towards cohorts. Skinks in the fear woods shoot and kill 2 more saurus, and the skirmishers on the hill move past to close range and blast my cohorts from behind killing 2. The bastards fail the panic test and run right threw my Saurus unit. Roll the break test from the and roll the dreaded TRIPLE box car. They turn and run for the river and thank goodness pull up 0.5 inches short from running off the table.

    Turn 3:
Saurus Rally, Cohorts Rally. Skirmishers turn around and move out of Kroxigor charge arc and take a wound off him.

His turn, skinks in fear woods take the cohorts down to 1 model, Kroxigor faces up, skirmishers on hill miss on all my skirmishers

    Turn 4:
Saurus face up for the skirmishers in the fear woods. Cohort model books it away to safety (VP’s only for destroyed/fleeing units. Skirmishers continue to dance around Kroxigor and take out 2 enemy skirmishers.

His turn Kroxigor moves into my starting zone and turns to face skinks, skirmishers whiff again on my skirmishers (These guys had a really really bad game), Wood skirmisher take a couple more saurus models.

    Turn 5:
Saurus charge in on the skinks in the fear woods and decimate them to the man losing 2 models to bring them down to the champion and 3 saurus. Skirmishers take one more wound of the kroxigor and dodge again (felt a little bad about this)

His turn he killed a skink with his skirmishers and moves into the starting area (His bonus was to end up with 1/3 of his army in my starting zone)

Turn 6: I try for the final wound on the Kroxigor and he saves, He concedes on his turn after failing to make my skirmishers panic.

Was a reasonable close game but the score was 0 points for him and 160 for me so counted as a massacre giving me 10 bonus army points next battle.

That was a lot longer than I was expecting a 200 point battle report to be so I’ll post the other battles later.

    Upcoming Skaven and Wood Elves!

Very nice report Eladimir, I love the sound of quick and simple low-point battles, might try it some time.

I'd reccomend a house rule of half VP's for half units though. Because players tend to have 2 or 3 units only first person to destroy a unit tends to win.

Nice job, im suppried you oponent (fail spelling) took chemo skinks and no sarus, sarus is the most amazing unit ever espcialy in escilation. He would have been better off with saurus, or more krox or maybe a small skrox unit of 8.
