I will be facing either beastmen or wood elves this weekend. The armies will be 1750 pts.

Because the beastmen seem to be a charge/frenzy based army, I had thought to take:

Scar vet on cold one with bboc and maiming shield (set him with my cavalry)
7 cavalry with full command and magic banner (jaguar for the extra pursuit die in hopes of breaking and overunning his units).

Skink priest lvl2 with 2 dispel scrolls (no movement or beastly spells for him)
    EOTG

Skink priest lvl2 with blood statuette and one additional dispel scroll

    Chameleons x10

    Terradons x 4

Skinks x 50 (units of 10) classic hit and run. I want nothing to do with any impact hits from the beastmen (or their frenzy).

    Salamander x1 with extra handler

This ends up being right at 1740 pts. This list is geared toward the beastmen, I do not know how it would hold up against wood elves. Any CC is welcomed.

    Thanks

I would drop the BBoC in favor of either Biting blade, Sword of Might, Sword of Battle. These weapons are just as expensive, if not cheaper, and will be more versitile. BBoC is a nice cheap weapon but your not gonna need the -4 (-2 BBoC, -2 for Str 5) against either Beastmen or WE. I like the rest of this set up though!

If your going to go defensive magic with these guys I would give your non-EotG skink the Diadem of Power since it allows you to save two power dice as dispel dice for your opponent's magic phase. Other than that not bad. Some would argue that taking the EotG is expensive, and it does indeed subtract what points you could use towards your army but if you want to be offensive magically there's no better way to go.

I'm not a huge fan of Chameleons (except Huaroc, he's cool). But I think they do have their uses, however not so much against a WE and to a lesser extent Beastmen. WE are all skirmishers so your likely not gonna be able to hide them outside of line of sight behind his troops. Against Beasts they have a fair amount of skirmishers too which would present problems.

About your Terradons, yeah I love 'em so have at it! Perhaps you could trade your Chameleons in for another 4 Terradon unit!

You mention hit and run...but you don't have any hammer units besides your single CoC. I'd advise getting some Saurus w/ spears in there. Skinks are all well and good but you really do need to have some hitting power besides your CoC. Terradons are nice for mages and war machines and other light targets but against infantry or ANY cavalry, heavy or otherwise, you've got no real defense. You've gotta add some meat to your force.

Salamanders will work well against his low leadership, I don't think you've gone astray with this unit choice at all!

Unfortunately I think this list would get chewed up by Wood Elves. You have nothing which can really combat his shooting or his HtH units. A single round of shooting from a standard WE list will panic half your army. Remember that WE are HIGHLY mobile and have EXCELLENT shooting capabilities. This army just isn't geared towards WEs.

If your expecting to fight against them you need more Terradons, Saurus (str 3 bows vs. T 4 AC 4 Saurus = win for you). Some skink skirmishers would work well too in case he goes buck wild and brings a treeman or tree kin (poison will do wonders).
