About to new armies book empire. My opponent is likely to have some seriously big units of halbreds, greatswords and flagelants backed by one of those arcane chariot things. He will also likely have big unit of knights and pistoliers backed by cannon and some crossbows.
Have not had much luck against this guy even before there new armies book. I have a bit of everything to choose from except terradons. Any cunning plans or combos for killing empire would be welcomed ?
    Thanks.

The new empire is weaker than the old version IMHO since all the infantry & war machines are more expensive while the stank has been made killable since it is only T6 vice T10. Here are a few quick tips based on what you are expecting:
    1) halberd, flagellants & greatsword blocks - a couple sallie templates will render these units toast and easy prey for a block of regular saurus. The halberds and flagellants are also vulnerable to massed skink shooting.
    2) Skrox - ideal for taking on the cavalry or stank. You will be steadfast and while the skinks die, krox will be dropping knights or beating the stank into the ground. In a war of attrition, giving up 5 point skinks for 22+ point cav is definitely an excellent bargain.
    3) chameleons - very good for taking on the fast cav. Just move and shoot from a flank since the outriders can only move OR shoot and the pistoliers would need 7's to hit chameleons. Alternatively, they can kill war machines, the weird chariots (hurricanum/luminark of hish) or just drop a few non-armoured infantry.

A standard lizzie list will do very well against the new empire. Skink shooting can take on the low armour save troops along with sallies and TG & saurus will chew through any empire infantry quite quickly. The only unit I would leave at home is steggie since the empire has loads of cannon. A scar vet cowboy would likely be useful to hold up a knight block or take the first round of fighting against flagellants so that their subsequent attacks are only S3. Slaan will be awesome as always.
