Hey folks - major noob here (just learning the game).

I was thinking of starting with 1000 points and building to 2000. Below is the list I have in mind but the thing I'm not sure about is the Scar Veteran. Is he a good choice?

    HERO Skink Priest 65
    Engine of the Gods 290
    Level 2 35

    HERO Scar Veteran 85
    Light Armour 5
    Enchanted Shield 15

    CORE 25 275
    Command 30
    Spears 20

    CORE 12 Skink Skirmishers 84
    Brave 6

    CORE 12 Skink Skirmishers 84
    Brave 6

    1000

Uh...so much for 1000 points? Anyways, looks like a good starting list. I personally would say that you should drop the extra 5 Saurus you have, because that's a little too much probably for one unit. I would heavily suggest either Salamanders or Razordons for your army. If you want, you could also field an Ancient Stegadon, which are much more effective than regular Stegadons. Also drop the Brave on the Skinks, that 6 points might be better used elsewhere. And for such a small point list, that Temple Guard is WAY too much. It's too easily squished by enemies, and TG aren't as good without a Slann, though they're not terrible. I'd personally heavily suggest for you to bring along Terradons, they are GREAT for smashing important enemy units, especially hard to hit units and war machines.

Oh, yep I meant to say 1500.

I'm actually wondering what to do about the Hero/leader. Also, the Skink Priest is on an Ancient (EOTG).

I think I will definitely add 3 Terradons, and is the TG ok if I drop it to 10?

Drop the TG all together. You'd be better off taking another unit of 20 saurus, dropping the other unit down to 20 (by the way you have the cost wrong for that unit. 25 saurus w/spears and command run @ 330 pts). Also at this low points game I'd also drop the EoTG. You can almost get two more second lvl priests for the same amount of points.

What I would pick up are some terridons (4), another unit of skinks (10), Razordons or salamanders, and maybe a Ancient steg.

Ah darn, I quite like those TG models.

Part of the problem is getting what I own ($$) to fit into something. I have 32 Saurus - which is a pain, I wish they came in boxes of 20 rather than 16. I do have 12 more Skinks so I could add a unit of them instead. Is it ever wise to field them as a normal regiment? Or stick to skirmishers?

EOTG is assembled and part painted, I'll probably need to stick with it I guess.

    EDIT/UPDATE:

Fixed original post to represent 1000 points properly.

Don't leave without your Engine. Engine's are amazing, and protect your guys from range and completely obliterate anything with a high armor save that dares to get close. I have plenty of experience using them, and anyone who states that Engines are not that great, or worse then two Level 2's, needs to try them and watch the glorious destruction.

    Cool :)

Is it cheesy to have an Engine at 1000 points?
