Here i am once again.. So i got a battle upcoming next saturday and i really want to start using magic.. but since it is versus a dwarf, im a little worried that it might be not that usefull.. I'll show the list i came up with.. Slann Mage-Priest The Focussed Rumination Banehead Plague of Tepok BSB -330- Skink Priest Lv2 Wizard EotG -390- 15 Saurus Warriors Spears Mu-St -198- 15 Saurus Warriors Spears Mu-St -198- 11 Skinks 1 Kroxigor Mu-St -124- 10 Skink Skirmishers -70- 4 Terradon -120- 16 Temple Guard FC -291- 5 Cold one Cavalry -175- 1 Salamander + Xtra Skink -80- [1976] So still 24 floating around.. *sob* The most annoying part would be to find the right lore ..Since he most probably will be using an Attack list wich would be he/we will be in combat most of the time..The plan would be to march forward to meet his warriors somewhere in the middle of the board.. knowing dwarves it might take a while. While letting those march i want to get the Skinkrox and Terradons move towards the war machines trying to protect them for the time being using scenery. I know he won't be taking an Anvil of Doom and probably no Hammerers.. since our shop didnt get them yet. But he might Proxy them.. Also he will take Gyrocopters with him.. since it is Str 3 AS -1 im not yet scared of them tho.. So what would you people suggest.. Wich Lore? Perhaps an other attack plan? And what to do with the last 24 points?!
First, you should probably ditch the banner on the skink krox unit. The unit is best when it is not really worth the trouble of going after it. That puts you at what, 30 points left? At that point I would swap out the plaque of Tepok for the Slann discipline that lets you get all the spells from a single lore. This way you'll get the gamewinning spell from the lore of metal. With the way your Slann is set up and facing Dwarves, you will almost certainly want Lore of Metal. The first metal spell is a character sniper, and with the Banehead you could pick off his BSB in one casting. The BSB is the heart of the dwarf army, so rip it out! The anvil of doom is the thing that makes dwarves have crazy magic defense, but without one he'll have to rely on Runesmith scroll caddies, so probably 5-6 dispel dice and a couple scrolls max. If you are playing open lists, be sure to check his characters for the Rune of the Furnace. This makes a character immune to flaming, so the first level metal spell won't work on these characters. Probably want to use your Bane Head on one of his hero level characters without Rune of the Furnace. If the BSB can't be hurt by flaming attacks, go right for a runesmith and cut back his magic defense, that will give your magic phase the potency you crave. Especially juicy would be a Runesmith toting a Master Rune of Balance.. mark that guy with the Bane head and snipe him. He may play cagey and stick the Runesmith with a warmachine or something, but I think you should be able to get your Slann or EotG skink priest in range for the kill. With your list things should go as you are expecting, with the big blocks meeting in the middle to slog it out. It is a fairly even match, though dwarves will typically start with an extra rank. If he forgets to take Longbeards, you may even get lucky and panic a unit with your salamander, but most dwarves will take Longbeards. List looks fine otherwise, best of luck against the stunties.
Thanks for reply once more.. I was already regretting the idea of taking a command with the skink unit..so now i got what you suggested.. Now i also know what his character choices are.. Dwarf Lord, Thane and 2 Runesmiths.. so that would be 6 DD and most probably 2 "scrolls" and the Thane walking with the big pole. May those moles be damned with their resistance. So that leave me waiting till saturday.. time flies when painting your army. Thanks foir the goodlucks. WheelR
