    Hi everyone,
I've always liked the Aztec look of a Lizardmen army, so I'm planning to get a Battalion with couple of other boxes and in the end use it as something like this:

    Lords

    Slann Mage-Priest – 380 pts
    - Lore of Life
    - 2 Disciplines: Focus of Mystery, The Focused Rumination
    - BSB
    - Divine Plaque of Protection

    Heroes

    Skink Priest – 355 pts
    - Level 1
    - Lore of Heavens
    - Engine of the Gods

    Core Units

    Saurus Warriors x 30 – 390 pts
    - FCG
    - Spears

    Special Units

    Temple Guard x 20 – 355 pts
    - FCG

    Stegadon – 235 pts

    Cold One Cavalry x 8 – 280 pts

    TOTAL: 1995 pts

Right now I'm thinking about 2 things:
    1) What to do with 5 points left?
    2) Is it any good at all?

I am not a fan of cold one's, they get into a lot of trouble sometimes, If you take those off you could will save a lot of points to use on more units.
however It's you army and that's just my opinion.

I also think you need some skinks, whether it's skirmishers or chameleons etc you might need some other wise you could get flanked and destroyed from targets around you.
also a salamander might be a thing to take into thought. they can really knock out a few good opposing units.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I've red a lot about cold ones being not very reliable. I've redone my list, added some skinks, salamanders and scar vet as a BSB (thinking about putting him in a unit of saurus warriors):

    Lords
    Slann Mage-Priest – 355 pts
    - Lore of Life
    - 2 Disciplines: Focus of Mystery, The Focused Rumination
    - Divine Plaque of Protection

    Heroes
    Skink Priest – 355 pts
    - Level 1
    - Lore of Heavens
    - Engine of the Gods

    Saurus Scar-Veteran – 138 pts
    - BSB
    - Light armour
    - Shield
    - Burning Blade of Chotec

    Core Units
    Saurus Warriors x 26 – 342 pts
    - FCG
    - Spears

    Skink Skirmishers x 10 – 70 pts

    Special Units
    Temple Guard x 20 – 355 pts
    - FCG

    Stegadon – 235 pts

    Rare Units
Salamander Hunting Pack – 150 pts
    - Salamanders x 2

    TOTAL: 2000 pts

The army on the whole looks good, the magic phases will be pretty strong with the engine of the gods backing up the Slann. A couple of points (which are just my preferences), it feels like you have a lot of points in Lords/heroes for only a 2000pt game, The Scar-vet would not be able to have any magic weapons or items if he is the BSB, so I would swap him for more core troops/ some chameleons, and give the BSB to the Slann instead (who can have still have magic items). Also, assuming the Slann is going to be in the Temple Guard unit, the Divine Plaque of Protection is kind of waste; if the Slann is going to be running around on his own the discipline: Higher State of Consciousness, would be better to have.

I'd like to second the comment that the Divine Plaque of Protection won't help you much. You get a look out sir so it only matters on a one in six chance.

I'd instead that the Iron Curse Icon is a good investment. Temple Guard attract a lot of fire. If the Icon saves one Temple Guard every other game it more than pays for itself.

I'd suggest making some Skinks from the starter army box into Chamo Skinks (by simply painting them chamo style) or just fielding skirmishers if points are tight.

Skirmishers are one of the greatest strengths of the LM army so you should experiment a little with all the skinky goodness.

I personally prefer Cold One Cavalry over Stegadons but I play against a lot of cannon users and don't take Life very often.

Excellent advice so far. Don't forget to remove point cost for individual items and troops. GW IP protection stuff.

Also, remember that at least 25% of your army has to be put into Core. You are lacking there.

Oops, sorry, forgot to delete point costs... There, should be better now
    I've redone the list:

    Lords
    Slann Mage-Priest – 355 pts
    - Lore of Life
    - 2 Disciplines: Focus of Mystery, The Focused Rumination
    - Ironcurse Icon
    - BSB

    Heroes
    Skink Priest – 355 pts
    - Level 1
    - Lore of Heavens
    - Engine of the Gods

    Core Units
    Saurus Warriors x 36 – 462 pts
    - FCG
    - Spears

    Skink Skirmishers x 12 – 84 pts

    Special Units
    Temple Guard x 20 – 355 pts
    - FCG

    Stegadon – 235 pts

    Rare Units
Salamander Hunting Pack – 150 pts
    - Salamanders x 2

    TOTAL: 1996 pts

Slann in TG, Core is more than 25%, a little bit more of skinks.

This is wrong it doesnt say a scar vet cannot take any magic items if they are the BSB it says they cannot take any magic items if they take a Magic banner and are the BSB pg 93 at the bottom.
Personally i dont like spears on saurus the complete loss of the shield just doesnt seem to be worth it to me i rather get the +1as and parry save over and extra rank of hits of which normally only half will even hit.

You Get the +1 AS when you have a shield, you only loose the parry save.

Spears are 1H weapons, you still get +1AS from having a shield in CC with them, just not the 6+ PS.

Ahhh indeed you are correct but as i said id still rather have the parry save as opposed to an extra rank of attacks but thats just my preference

True, the PS has also served me well in the past.
