So I got a nostalgia hit when my good old army got updated so I had to live out my old boyish memories... leading me to this list! I'm complete new to the forums so... howdy folks!

I haven't painted or anything since the age of 14 (a long time ago) so i'm pretty new to the whole system. I do plan on making a paint log and background story for the army soonish.

Since I'm practicly new to this I hope i might get some pointers for my list, what could work and what probably wont. I'm going mainly for style, hence the skink only army, but i still wan't my army to be functional and able to do something. Besides, it has made for some fun theorycrafting with the list for my part.

I don't have the rulebook, only the army book. There I'm abit clueless to how some of the rules function and I'm hoping for some insight into how much they're worth on the board. Here is the 100pts army.

    -Heroes

Skink priest (lvl2) With stuff, maybe a dispell scroll?

Skink Chief On ripper with stuff
    -------------------------------
    Total 250 ish

    -Core

    16+2skink cohort (shields/javs)+krox

    13 skink skirmishers
    ------------------------------
    Total 271

    -Special/rare

Stegadon w both Unstoppable Stampede amd Sharpened Horns

    Bastiladon w Solar engine

    Salamander + extra handler
    --------------------------------
    Total 479

    -------------------------------
    Grand total 1000

Obviously I haven't given the heroes any items since I don't have the big rule book yet, though I am tempted by the Egg of Quango for the chief. Seems like it could be fun, but the Sacred steg helm has also caught my eye.

Dunno what a lvl 2 wizard is good for but i bet it's better than a lvl 1. Nor do i know what items might be good for a wizard besides dispell scrolls beeing quite popular on the forums.

Finally the steg has both the added rules. It might be overkill but since I'm not sure what their real function would be on the board I made room for both.

Any overkill points here could be put back into core or something, as I am abit worried my army backbone isn't hard enough to live very long.

    Any comments are highly appreciated.

May The Old Ones return and rid this world of its taint!

On some level I think everyone's first list should be done without outside input for a pure learning experience but I have a few suggestions.

For the Skink Priest I would advise giving him the Ruby Ring of Ruin and a Dispel Scroll if you can spare the points for the Scroll. Two spells plus the Ruby Ring and Solar Engine should give you plenty of uses for your power dice. If you blast the enemy enough before engaging that will make up for your weak center.

I suggest you put your Skink Priest in your Skirmishers and I would suggest you trim your Skirmishers down to 10. There is rarely any reason to field more than the minimum size of Skirmishers. Use the points saved to bulk up your Skroxigor a bit. Since it's your only fighting block you want to give it as many bodies as you can spare.

Bastiladons are a great support unit, just be mindful that everything else on your list is M6 not M4. It's not the worst thing in the world for you Bastiladon to make it into combat a turn later (that's one more opportunity to shoot the Solar Engine).

Skinks are pretty low leadership. It might be worth it to switch your Ripper riding chief into a Skink Chief BSB on foot with the Skroxigor.
