I have recently started WFB and my play group is moving from 750 up to 1500. The rest of my group plays Ogres, Dwarfs, High Elves, Wood Elves, and Dark Elves (with the obligatory Hydra). This is my first attempt at a 1500 point list, so I would love some advice/criticism from some more experienced lizardmen players! So without further ado: Slaan (either Life or Light) BSB, Banner of eternal flame Rumination Plaque of Tepok Scar-Vet (goes with the Saurus block) Light Armour, Shield Burning Blade of Chotek 24 Saurus, FC 10 Skirmishers Skrox Unit: 16 Cohorts + MU, 2 Krox 5 Chameleon Skinks 5 Chameleon Skinks 16 Temple Guard, FC Salamander, extra handler Total: 1499 Some questions I have are: Are temple Guard/Slaan bunker too expensive at this points level? Should I make the Scar vet the BSB with Eternal flame and move the burning blade to the Temple Guard champion? Should I drop the Scar-Vet entirely in favor of a scroll caddy Skink Priest? Is one Salamander enough, or should I be making room for a second (and if so, where do the points come from)? Thanks in advance!
No, Temple Guard are a good investment in points to protect the slann. You should keep the Slann as the BSB. If you think you need a scroll, you could drop the scar-vet. I like the extra killy-ness that he brings though. At 1500 points, your slann should be able to control the magic phase fairly well. I would like another salamander (split them into two separate units) though. I would trim the points from the saurus probably.
So I could drop the Saurus down to 19 (4 ranks of 5 with the Scar-Vet) and loose the extra handler on the first slamander. The question is which unit champion to drop for the remaining points, Saurus or temple guard? Also, is a block of only 20 Saurus surviveable at his points level (keeping in mind that I will be taking lore of life)?
The Saurus are very survivable. I would drop the Saurus hero instead of the TG hero. Basically, the Saurus unit is to hold something so you can flank charge.
