I'd like to stress first off that this list is in no way designed to be highly competitive. The idea behind the list is to provide some kind of end goal for my Lizardmen. I want there to be some fun models to paint, some modelling challenges, plus I would like it to be able to at least contest a game. *cough cough* Denver Broncos *cough* So without further ado: Lords - 415pts Slann Mage Priest - BSB, Wandering Deliberations, Harmonic Convergence, Channelling Staff, Standard of Discipline Heroes - 185pts Skink Priest - Cube of Darkness (Beasts) Skink Priest - Dispel Scroll (Beasts) Core - 660pts 30 Saurus Warriors - Musician, Standard Main holding block. 10 Skinks - Kroxigor, Musician, Standard Each unit sits either side of the blocks (ideally within 24" of Slann)to protect flanks and provide some extra range for Fireballs etc. 10 Skinks - Kroxigor, Musician, Standard 10 Skink Skirmishers Take a flank, chase up field and gun down war machines/similar. Would normally be Chameleons but couldn't find points. Special - 750pts 20 Temple Guard - Musician, Standard Main holding block. Slann goes here. 5 Cold One Riders - Musician, Spears A nice modelling opportunity. Looking at putting the riders on the Dark Elf Cold Ones (they're just better, OK?!) Will be used to flank charge for some high strength lots of attacks goodness. 3 Ripperdactyl Riders Works in conjunction with Skirmishers. Bastilladon - Solar Engine Sits with main blocks, blasts away with remaining power dice. Rare - 390pts Ancient Stegadon Sits with main blocks, tried to get the engine in, again couldn't find points. Salamander Sit on both flanks, hold up enemy flankers and scorch infantry. Salamander <END> All comes to 2400pts on the nose. Hope you like it, please get back with any comments and critique!
Looks like a pretty fun list to me lots of options and lots of models to paint for sure. If you aren't interested in making it competitive it'll be fine as it is, but if you find yourself struggling (hopefully not as bad as the Bronco's) then here are some tips for you. I consistently say that I believe a unit of 2 Kroxigor and 20 Skinks is superior to 2 units of 1 and 10. In my experience the single Kroxigor doesn't pull his weight like a pair of them do. But that's a simple thing you can try out in a few games without having to re-write your army list. After that I'd say that your Temple Guard block is a little small, but it should serve you well. Just don't expect them to hold up against anything substantial unless they're buffed. Also another personal preference on my part, I think Wandering Deliberations really doesn't have the big game changing impact that a regular lore or Focus of Mystery does. Last time I used it in a tourney and I was sorely missing my big number 6 spells.
Great, this is all good advice! I'm not really interested in bringing this army (or any army for that matter!) to a tournament. It's not really my thing; I prefer to just have fun rather than going all out. The people I normally play are quite a 'pro-fun' group. Empire/Dwarf cannons are an issue though... I quite like having the idea of the Slann with all the sig spells. If only for the fact that it gives an extra Wyssans (a potential for 3x Wyssans buffed Saurus/Temple Guard! Won't happen often, but when it does... Plus it gives me a lot of options. Haven't really tried him out much though as I'm only starting out. I'll definitely play test it out and see what I prefer. I'll certainly keep all that in mind, thanks.
