Hello everyone, I was a WH player in the 5th edition and I collected the Lizardmen army with the box set (the one with Bretonnia) Back then I was keen on collecting and painting the models more than actually playing the game. I perhaps have had 3 games thats about it lol. I am from Hong Kong and GWS has closed all their shops tens of years ago. One day I found this GWS authorized store, which is the only place left in Hong Kong that sells Warhammer stuffs lol. I called up my old buddy and visited the store and we both wanted to play a bit of Warhammer, for old time sake hahaha. So this weekend, I am going to fight his (newly collected) Tomb King army. (He was an Undead player) Since he lost almost all his old models, he is just starting out, so we are playing small scales battles. I have well over 2k Liz although I never really played more than 2-3 games 15 or so years ago. So its fair to say we are both new players, especially since the rules have changed so much. (Should I be glad that Lizardmen still exist? lol) Anyway, according to the % in the BRB I have picked the following list as my 500 points army, just posting it to see what you guys think, and what recommendation veteran players might have against my list: Cold One Cavalary x 5 with comm = 225 points Skinks x 10 = 50 points Sauruses x 10 with comm = 140 points Skink Priest (Hero) 65 points with power stone 20 points 225 + 50 + 140 + 65 + 20 = 500 points In case you are wondering, the cavalary that I have are the old version with skinks on them LOL but I guess they can be used as Saurus Cavalary just fine. And the Skinks that I have are all holding a bow hahahaha Well that is my list. I will mainly shoot a little with the Skinks, or use it as a barrier to prevent my Saurus getting charged by chariots. Use my Priest to fight for dispells (Tomb King must have wizards....no?) Finally Saurus as main fighting force where Cold Ones will most likely help the Saurus by quickly flanking the sides of the unit the Saurus is fighting, or tackle other fast-moving units What do you guys think?
WH rules aren't balanced around 500 and Tomb Kings are really weak below 2000 pts so a soft list (such as yours) might make for a lot more fun games then a power list. A few comments tho: - Cold one Cav is a very poor choice at any point cap (and your list is basically 50% CoC), remove command on them as its too expensive for 5 models (maybe keep the musician for better rally). - Saurus are very strong against TK, but 10 is too few. Remove command on CoC and the FC on the saurus and take a block of 15 with standard and champ or 16 with just a standard. - Skink cohorts are great in larger battles but in 500 pts redirecting, harassing and blocking is less useful. Get rid of the Power Stone and upgrade these babies to skirmishers with blow pipes. Those models are sweet as hell, I'd trade all my 7th ed Cav for old school skink cav in a heart beat. Only reason I would ever play with them is if I had the skink models, because stat wise they are average at best.
Thanks for the reply The old Skinks CoC are nice indeed ! They were not very well-painted back then, and I intend to wash the paint (they are 100% metal models including the skinks) and repaint it much better I also have bought the special character.... the great Cold One Rider, I can't remember his name and my old 5th Ed Army Book is gone, but he has a special Cold Ones with many horns on its head. That model is cool as hell. I was going to include him as a hero unit among the 5 skinks CoC, or use it as a normal commander and get a total of 6 CoC back then. Well I will post some photos later. The 500 points is really limiting and I agree that the CoC at 225 might be too expensive. More saurus or perhaps a unit of Skrox ( I have 4 Krox in total ) might give better H2H ability. I also have Terradons and Salamander but at 500 points I feel it is hard to adjust
