    Hello my scaly chums.

I'm having my first game of WHFB tonight, using my LM batallion (currently being painted). I'll be facing Chaos (nurgle), Ogres and/or Wood Elves.

They're only 1k games, and we're playing to get me used to the rules but I would still like to kick some ass. So, any tips for these armies, or just in general?

I'll get my dudes up in the painting section when they're ready.

    Cheers!

When fighting ogres, skinks and their poison are your friend. The poison counteracts their high toughness and most ogres have minimal armor.

Chaos troops definitely use salamanders across their big blocks of troops. The flames will eat away any armor they have and with a good roll, take out half the stack.

Never played wood elves, no advise here.

For 1000 pts since you can't get a slann, use an oldblood as your general and a Scar vet as bsb with a skink priest for magic.

Oh and make sure you get a unit of chameleons. Especially on low points, there are many places to put them to screw your opponent on the first turn. Get them behind the enemy and take out warmachines or lone characters or just plink away at units if neither of the first two are present. Opponents get real crazy with those guys shooting them in the back all game.

    Great advice, Battlehamster. Thanks.

I am very limited in my troop selection at the moment, as I only have the Batallion boxed set miniatures. I had to borrow a spare figure off my mate to represent a skink priest!

I'll be swelling the ranks come pay day, though. THEN they'll be sorry. They'll all be sorry...
