Hi, I'm Trociu and I'm new to Lizardmens and to WHFB. This is my first list and basicaly it contains everything I have: Oldblood Great Weapon Egg of Quango Piranha Blade Saurus (with Oldblood) 19 units with spears full command Skink skirmishers 20 units with blowpipes 15 units with blowpipes Cold One Riders 8 units with spears full command Temple guards 10 units full command -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1217 points I made this army for my first battle (Lizards+High Elves vs. Bretonnia+Dwarfs) and it wasn't easy to fight with those dwarves. My main problem were cannon and organ gun. Next day i was fighting only with dwarves and i lost almost everything without killing more than 5 units with blowpipes? That's why i have to ask - what should i buy next? Dwarves and Elves will be my opponents mostly. I know i need magic, is the Skink priest enough? Is it good idea to buy more cold ones (as i see most people don't use them too much but i would like to try, especially to attack thunderers) or better try flying ones? What should i buy after what? I have to say that WHFB is really expensive for me and i would like to buy something my girlfriend would paint with joy (now she want's something new, not sauruses and skinks). Also my goal for next year is reaching 2000 points (my friends preffer such battles and they don't have much more models). PS i found that i have 2 swarms (1 base) - is this usable? How can i get more (not metal ones from GW site).
First of, welcome! About your army, using the models at your disposal: Use 2 or 3 of the cavalry as mounted scarvets. With magic armour they can have 1+ armoursave, and still have the hands free to use great weapon. The TG-unit is small, and it takes quite some skill, if at all possible, to use them MSU-style. If you want a walking old blood, at least he should have 1+as, and either dawn stone or ward save. If you like the piranha blade: old-blood, piranha blade, light armour, ench shield, dawn stone. That leaves armour of destiny to one of the scar-vet cowboys. skinks: 3 units of 10 is better than i two larger ones. You could convert some to camo-skinks by wrapping some green-stuff on their head. And if you still have the weapon-bits, switch to javelins. Next thing to buy: Magic. Either tetto-eko or priest. Dwarfs doesn't like comets in their warmachine-park. At 2000 pts it's OK to use slann, but he's too expensive at smaller points. Salamanders. 2-4 of them in as small units as possible. 1+1, 1+2 or 2+2.
Welcome! There is an important thing you have to now, you aren't allowed to use great weapon and piranha blade at the same time, so you have to drop one Only give your model 1 weapon upgrade, or a mundane weapon or a magic weapon or no upgrades not both magic and mundane! Split the skirmishers to 4x10 if possible, else 3x10 and use 5 as chameleons! And give the skirmishers javelins and shields, 12" run move and shooting and a 5+ armoursave and a 6++ parry save in Close Combat. Further swap the cold ones as fast as you can, ripperdactyls or terradons are much better, When you play against dwarves the terradons are almost a 1+ choice, you can't play without because of the war machines!
thanks for advice, I'll try to do what you said (without flying units - didn't bought it yet). Maybe I'll fight today with Vampires not Dwarfs.
