I'm not much of a storyteller and I have horrible memory, so please excuse the crappy report and ignore any casualties i may have messed up. again i have the short term memory of a goldfish. So it was a friendly match in my friends basement (4x4 table, its perfect for 1k matches). I went first. He had 3 herds, with his general and another hero in separate units, of gors (10 or 11 in each) and ungors (5 in each). he also had 6 centigores and 5 minotaurs. To my left there were 2 forests about 6 or 7 inches apart. He deployed his minotaurs to the far left with the centigores around the middle of the board with his generals herd deployed behind them. I had my unit of 10 skinks to the left to get some darts on the minotaurs, my generals unit next to them on the right and my skink priest was just to the right of them. in the middle of the board was my 11 skink unit and my other saurus unit to the right. and finally my cold ones to the far far right. My list Scar Vet – 140 Enchanted Shield, Light Armor, Piranha Blade Skink Priest – 140 Lvl 2, Plaque of Tepok, Power Stone (He had the number 1 spell (i forget the name), thunderbolt, and comet. CORE 14 Saurus Warriors (General's Unit) – 186 Musician, Standard Bearer, Spears 15 Saurus Warriors – 198 Musician, Standard Bearer, Spears 11 Skink Skirmishers – 77 10 Skink Skirmishers - 70 SPECIAL 5 Cold Ones -195 Standard Bearer TOTAL – 1001 TURN 1 - Not much happened. I went first, moved everyone except my generals unit. Priest casted Thunderbolt on his centigores, didnt go off. Tried Comet, didnt go off. His turn, moved everyone up. centigores were moved towards my cold ones, his generals unit behind a forest. TURN 2 - Moved my 10 strong unit of skinks up into range of his minotaurs. moved general up 4 inches. other unit of skinks moved into forest thinking i was out of range of his centigores and general. other unit of saurus stayed put, cold ones moved up diagonally to the left. Shot at his minotaurs, dealed 4 wounds. casted thunderbolt on his minotaurs, another 3 wounds. His turn, charged my 11 man unit of skinks with centigores and his general. i chose to flee. luckly he was stupid enough to turn his minotaurs around trying to get them away from skinks around to his other flank ( forests blocked a direct route) He brought both his ambushing herds directly behind my general. TURN 3 - Skinks didnt rally. Not much movement, turned my generals unit around. Moved my skink priest away from his general and the 10 skinks up. moved cold ones up knowing he would charge with his centigores so i moved up my saurus unit ready to flank his attack, skinks shot at his minotaurs, dealed 5 wounds. Priest casted thunder bolt on one of his ambushing heards, killed 3. His turn, charged my generals unit with both his herds and my coldones with his centigores. moved his general up a bit thinking he could get a counter charge on my saurus that would flank. minotaur moved more. Generals unit only killed 3 and lost combat, fleed and got overrun. Nothing happened between the cold ones and centigores. TURN 4 - Skinks rallied, other skinks moved in range of his herds. saurus charged. skinks shot and only killed 2. Thunderbolt on his heros herd, didnt go off. Used the number 1 spell on the saurus, didnt go off. saurus and coldones kill 4 centigores, they break. Saurus hold, and cold ones pursue. His generals unit was within 6" and broke as well. His turn, neither his general or centigores rally, they flee even more, leaves his minotaur waiting for my cold ones, the herd without the hero charges my 10 man unit of skinks. I stand and shoot, killing 4. of course the skinks lose. 7 die, others get overrun, his heros herd holds, the other pursues and goes off the board. TURN 5 - Cold ones attempt to charge minotaur, fail, turn my saurus unit around, move my other unit of skinks away from his herd but still in range to shoot. priest keeps a safe distance. Thunderbolt on his herd, kills 1 or 2 i believe, skinks shoot leaving just 4 of them alive. His turn, his other unit of herds come back (i let him move them toward my saurus cuz i wanted a chance to chop them down), minotaur charges, his general rallies, centigores run off the board. moves his 3 gors and hero up towards my saurus. Minotaur kills one cold one, attacks back wound him once. he breaks general breaks again, they run off the board. minotaur gets over run and cold ones end up off the board. TURN 6 - I charge his 4 man herd with my saurus, move my skinks into range of his other herd, move priest into sight of them as well. Shots kill 3 in his herd, thunderbolt doesnt cast... bummer. His herd breaks i pursue, run into his other herd, they break as well i over run them. GAME OVER VICTORY FOR LIZARDS. WOO Thanks for reading. Also, both of us are both starting the game again so we were unclear on some rules so we sort of winged it on things that we were a bit unsure of. still good fun though.
Thanks for the report and congrats on the victory. If you and you're opponent are okay with it there is not a thing wrong with just playing and having fun without too much botheration over the rules. Looking up every move, shot, attack, declaration, etc. can really turn something fun into something tedious very quickly. Glad you had a casual game with a friend and thought to share it with us!
The best part is that lizards are completely different than my bretonnians, I am so used to just charging with knights so its sort of nice to have some way better shooting, infantry, and magic. especially the magic. I look forward to future battles i have with them.
