Dear All I've looked at what I have and what's available and acquired some new toys for my very old (circa 1996) Lizardman Army. I've bought a Batallion and some second hand Saurus Vets to add to what I already have and I have some options. I'm currently planning on running this (to learn with) Lords: Slann, Focus of Mystery, The Focused Rumination, Cupped Hands & BSB (planning on running shadow or life) (has to sit in Temple Guard) Heroes: Scar Veteran, Cold One, Enchanted Shield, Luckstone & Gold Sigil Sword (For Cold One Riders) Core: 30 Saurus Warriors with Spears, including full command 10 Skink Skirmishers 10 Skink Skirmishers Special 20 Temple Guard including Full Command, Banner of the Eternal Flame and Sword of Might on the Champion Stegadon 5 Cold One Cavalry including Full Command Rare Salamander Hunting Pack including Additional Handler This comes in at 2000 pts bang on. Questions, Should I run the Spearmen in 5 ranks of 6? (rather than horde) I know Cold One Cavalry are considered a bit sub-par in comparison with other options but I wanted something fast and hard hitting on a flank to work with a stegadon to push my enemy onto the anvil of saurus Should I be trying harder to get a skink priest into my list, I'm relying on my Slann Lord to carry the fight there. Thanks for any pointers offered Lp
Running the saurus in a rank of 6 is more practical than running a horde unit. A horde unit is only practical agains another horde unit. You can always reform them into a horde unit. As far as a skink priest goes, you should definately think about it as you can use him for a scroll/cube caddy. I like the cube as it offers the chance to end a magic phase (and all remains in play spells). I would take at least one more salamander. 2 units of 2 would be ideal. Shadow will work well to debuff your oppenents. Life works a little better in my opinion (buffing your guys up and miscast protection without cupped hands). Light also is a great lore (but you need cupped hands here for sure). Other than that, I think it's a fairly strong list. Welcome to the forum.
Thanks for the welcome. Looking at the list, if I were to drop the stegadon, I could fit in another salamander, another unit of skink skirmishers (or camoskinks) and probably, a skink priest which may well give me a dispell / cube caddy with additional nuke power. I'm trying to build a good list for learning the rules and later I hope to tweak it for competitive play. Ideally I'd like to focus on building an all-comers list, as I like to be able to show up to the local club and field an army that can stand it's own vs anything, rather than focussing on beating particular opponents. Thanks for the pointers. I'll look at building a mk2. list once I've used my stegadon a couple of times lp
