Well, this list is is inspired in 6th edition, wich I played without saurus, only Kroxigors, skinks skirmishers, salamanders and slann (i don't use here kroxigors, for they would be too exposed...) Sorry If I make some mistakes when writing, but the translation from spanish to english in warhammer is a bit harsh. - Slann Mage Priest + Battle standard bearer + Higher state of conciousness + Becalming cogitation + Focused Rumination + Focus of mistery + Cupped hands of the old ones = 495 points - Level 2 Skink Pirest + Engine of the Gods + Dispell Scroll = 415 points - Level 2 Skink Priest + Engine of the Gods = 390 points - 10 skink skirmishers = 70 points - 10 skink skirmishers = 70 points - 10 skink skirmishers = 70 points - 3 terradon riders = 90 points - 3 terradon riders = 90 points - Stegadon = 235 points - 1 salamander = 75 points TOTAL: 2000 points (12 power dice; 8 ¿dispell? dice) The idea with this list is obvious: Magic, Magic and Magic (have I said Magic? ) and use both EotG and the stegadon to charge only when it's safe to do so (for that we have the salamander, the terradons and the skinks, for redirecting enemy charges). Meanwhile we have a lot of shooting and magic missiles for ¿undermining? enemy troops, in order to, when we finally reach close combat, they could be easilly destroyed by the stegadons. I have tried It, but only against Tomb Kings, so I don't know if the list is good, bad or whatever, i just wanted to have a few laughs when i played it. I wanted to use the bane head for the slann and the plaque of tepok for one of the priests, but i didn't have enough points. Also, Would you use the unfathomable presence or the trascendent healing instead of the focus of mistery? I have used It because I need all the spells with this list (Imagine I get spells 1-4 instead of 5 or 6) and i didn't want to run that risk, but as the slann is going to be on it's own, i just wanted to protect it a little bit. P.S.: The words that are between interrogation marks are those that i don't know to be O.K.
in my experiance if you are going to go magic heavy you are better off with a slann and 3 skinks on foot (you get pretty much the same magic) and save yourself about 600 points that you can put toward troops you will need some especially if you come up against a horde army you simply can't blast that much stuff but that is me i have only ran all 4 casters once and it was not successful you end up losing too much other stuff and our casters are pretty fragile
While this army looks intriguing, I'd be pretty nervous to play it myself. You dont have anything to accept a charge, so you are relying on directing the movement game in order for this to work. While it will work on some opponents, there are also opponents who will see through this plan and not allow you the safe charges with your 3 steggies. Also, what happens against a gun line? I see 3 large targets and a lone slann. Ouch. Still, I think it could definitely be fun to play, with so much magic you have both the potential to really massacre and to really die. I'd love to see some battle reports of this army, I think it would be very amusing.
