First of MERRY CHRISTMAS!! now that that is out of the way. So my buddies and I were talking about what armies we love and hate to fight against. for me I love facing Bretts, that damn charge makes them a fearful force and my friend has learned how to counter my magic(which is no small feat) and we are dead even in games right now. But i hate facing vampires, it might just be the player, but i hate how damn powerful they can make their lord and facing a foe that never runs never makes the game feel like its gonna go somewhere. So guys whats your fav army to face and least fav to face? And when i say this i mean armies that you get the most challenge from and enjoy both winning and losing against or vice versa.
I personally dislike playing Skaven. It just is so demoralizing when the Skaven player is deploying! But the Skaven player around here is a pretty cool dude so its all good
I agree on the skaven issue. It is a little depressing to see so many units of skaven put down during deployement. Sure, the are mostly throw away units, but wow, there is a lot of them. The other army I dislike is High Elves with their re-rolled missed hits. That sucks.
One of the most fun armies I like playing against is Orcs and Goblins. Simply because they are so unpredictable. They can do either lots of damage or beat up on themselves. I try to picture a mini-movie in my mind where my skink skirmashers move within 8" of a Night Goblin unit and see 3 fanatics appear out of no-where.. only to see them hit their own units! lol. Whirling balls on chains with little green goblins twirling and thier tongues flapping along while their buddies are getting smashes to ribbons - while my opponent is like lol. A tough and fun army for me is High Elves. Not so much their magic (though when my opponent takes Teclis and gets Irrisistable Force on any doubles yet doesnt' roll on the miscast table unless they are 6's.. AND can remove up to 2 spells permanently from the game... yeah), but, as Arli said, all their re-rolls! So, I appreciate the challenge with them. Another challenge I like is the Bretonnians. Going up against a Bret General who really knows how to play his army for 8th edition can take a bit of work.. and yet so rewarding when you get it right. Multiple charges from decent to elite heavy cavalry can be devestating. It's not knowing about what to do with Brets, but able to do it when you need to that counts, imo. - Lord Cedric
