Ok, i'm starting a new army and in light of the new orc and goblin releases i've decided on a gobbo army where nobody walks, every member of the army is on spider back. Take a look at my initial list and anyone who plays gobbos can you please give me some tips on items, how best to play them. Thanks in advance, now the list Lord: Goblin Great Shaman - Mounted on Arachnarok Spider with Spidershrine (Grants loremaster and channelling on 4+) Heros: Goblin Big Boss 1 - LA, S, GW - Mounted on Spider Goblin Big Boss 2 - LA, S, GW - Mounted on Spider Goblin Big Boss 3 - LA, S, GW - Mounted on Spider Goblin Big Boss 4 - LA, S, GW - Mounted on Spider - BSB, Banner of Discipline Core: 10 Spider Rider Archers - Boss 1 here 10 Spider Rider Archers - Boss 2 here 20 Spider Rider Spearman - Boss 3 here 20 Spider Rider Spearman - Boss 4 here Rare: Arachnarok Spider - Flinger Total- around 2k I just absolutely love the idea of an entire army that is fast moving, doesn't really worry about terrain and can really pack a punch on account of having 2 arachnaroks in the list, also going to 3k from here would be simply adding another arachnarok and more creepy crawleys. Any opinions on this guys would be great, as well any advice at all Yours Aye Mixer
You springing for two of those spiders? Mr. deep pockets! Looks good. Nice list as long as it meets the core requierements. I have looked at the new book, but I did not pay attention to the core troops. Pretty cool concept really.
Well i figured i could do a 2k list for just under £200 english, which is pretty good to be honest. The great thing about this idea is Spider riders count as core, so its all gravy, and gobbo bosses are about 70-80 points each geared up, with the exception of the BSB who is a bit more. Forgot to mention the bosses would be on Gigantic spiders, i.e. the ones the us a monster base, not cavalry bases, so the 10 strong units will be 6x2 and the 20 strong units will be either 5x4 with an extra or 7x3.
You seem to have cleverly got around the traditional weakness of gobbos (Ld) with a large target general. clever. Still best to keep an eye out for terror though...
I would actually try and use the Giant Spiders for the bosses in the large spider units, especially the BSB. But the two that go in the archer units, I'd keep them out of the archers and still on the gargantuan spiders. Gives you a larger number of targets for the enemy to go after and keeps those two bosses useful as you don't want to get your archers into combat unless desperate measures are required. Aside from that I think it is a brilliant and fun list worth trying out. It can be quite competitive but you'll need to want to make sure your shaman is fine, I'd scrounge the points to give him a wardsave, even if its a one use 2+ ward (i think there is a talisman like that)
