Yes, this thread starts a bit nostalgic, cause I'm a 6th Edition Lizardmen player who knew the days when core skirmishers scouted, when slanns had generations and everyone had amazing spawns. Yeah, those were great days for being scaled... I started playing tournaments with 14-15 years, and lizards seemed to be exactly what I wanted to play (and still likes to): - Fast army - Though units - Flexibility - Hard hitters Nowadays, 8th edition is a pain if you want to play that way, cause yes, we still have some of those options, but the game itself has changed and I don't find a way to play my idea of lizardmen anymore. After many days of agony I've redone my 6th edition army list and tried to update it to 8th and I've got some points left where I want your help to complete the army: 8th EDITION VERSION: LORDS - Slann: Death magic, Channeling Staff, Discipline Standard, Harmonic Convergence and BSB HEROES - Scar Veteran: GW, shield, Gambler's Armor, OTS, Carnosaur (Blood Roar and Looping Stride) - Skink Shaman: Lvl2. Heavens and Dispell Scroll CORE UNITS - 34 Skink Cohort: Poisoned attacks, full command and 4 Kroxigors - 10 Skink Skirmishers: Javelins and shield - 10 Skink Skirmishers: Javelins and shield - 10 Skink Skirmishers: Javelins and shield SPECIAL UNITS RARE UNITS - Ancient Stegadon: EoTG, Sharpened Horns - 3 Salamander Hunting Pack So we have 374p left to 2500.
Sooo... Is the Slann going in the Big Cohort unit ? with the points left either get some saurus or something from Special.
I was planning to leave the slann bunkered in one of the skirmishers units, relying if necessary in the arcane vassal. I'm completely blocked with the rest of the list, I'd like some cowboys to join, but no heroes allowance... Maybe some rippers? I'm trying to avoid it as long as I feel I'm going too skink heavy...
I'd add becalming cogitation on the slann. Re-rolling the first failed dispell attempt each turn is awesome; soul to stone also isn't a bad idea for miscast protection. You could add a bastilladon with solar engine to add some more large targets and the exrtra dice you generate from death could get you an easy cast at the end of phase. Get the extra handlers for the salamanders for sure. You don't need a shield on the scar-vet btw. As far as the rest of the points go I'd say maybe an egg chief on flier or hiding out in the cohort for a fun surprise and either fliers for more speed and chaff or chameleons to get to warmachines which are probably your biggest threat. If your chief goes in the cohort give him the icon for some warmachine protection too.
I wanted to keep the Slann cheap, but Becalming is always welcome when point allow it, but Soul have always been a fail for me, points waste hahaha. The bastilladon have been in my mind, cause the laser goes well with a non S4 2D6hits lore...but M4 makes him a bit slow for my playstyle, so I'll have to consider it. With 9 handlers, the 3 salamanders go really well hahaha The shield might be lost points, but I face many WE with AP arrows and many spells that make the shield and the consequent 1+AS very reliable. So we could consider it a meta question Ans finally, about the chief, I've been really considering this guy as war machine hunting role, but the points left for hero allowance don't let me add the Egg, but I could give him a charmed shield and a dragonbane gem to increase the life of my dinos, stopping a cannon ball with his monstruous cavalry rule. Skink Chief: Terradon, spear, light armor, Charmed Shield, Dragonbane Gem and Foolhardiness Potion Less points than a Terradon unit, More hitting power to hunt cannons and also, a chance to save my big buddies from an evil shot.
Hey man, I like the list so far. Its nice to see a different change up. A few things though. That slann needs some place to go other than a skink cohort. If any unit even chaff get into it, you most likely will loose the slann to combat res. Id suggest atleast get him a 20 man saurus bunker for him to last longer. I think you need some sort of anvil unit. Since you are running the carosaur scar vet maybe a steg, or just some rippers or terradons. Im a terradon fan. Hope this helps a bit. Knudsen
