So my FLGS got the softcover editions of khaine in, and 24 hours later I have finished the book. A few thoughts: For the rule sectin first: Magic of the end times- I hadn't heard about this from any other posts, but in the rules for magic of the end times, it says the rules must be used when one of the lists fighting is one if the elven hosts. Just wanted to point this out as I didn't know if anyone else had caught it. Second for magic of the end times- do you believe this be style of magic will bring back machine gun slann? Take a WD slann and just start burning units to death with the lvl 1 fire ball to get the stack and then switc to the lvl 2? I remember back in 6th, when slann could take from multiple lores, where a slann would have 2-4 magic missles and just now them down. This time it's better as once the PD gets low, the slann can just refresh the pool with death magic. But I think even vanilla lore of fire slann may make a comeback, which leads me to the fluff... FLUFF SPOILERS FROM THE END TIMES So is it pretty obvious at this point that Mazdamundi is goin to become the avatar of the ones of Fire? Fire and sun has always been his thing, and he is one of the oldest remaing slann, but is still more active than those of the 5th generation. And with our new laser beam, could Mazdamundi'a avatar ability be further stacks of I on all lizardmen units with 12? Or at least increase the stack from the lore of fire attribute to D6? Also I don't think we will be getting a second avatar. ETK says that the winds of beast flies east from the vortex. With listeria lying south west, the possibility doesn't seem likely that it's ending up with Sotek's chosen. --> however I will admit since we don't know when end times skaven will occurring, th lizardmen could alreadybe in Albion, or the south lands.... And the final picture in the book does certainly look like a floating golden pyramid... Speaking of floating pyramids, the black pyramid of Nagash has been said to be floating by magic right? So with the winds of magic bound, will it crash? Or is it in fact a floating templecity from the south lands converted to Nagash's will... Yeah that's a stretch I'm sure I'll have more to add, but typing on a phone is hard, and if you don't have EatK yet, check your local store to see if the restocked.
Since Nagash, Glottkin and Khaine happens simultanously, the skaven book likely will as well, which means it isn't unlikely that we have already moved by the time the winds are released. And yeah, I think most of us was aware of when to apply the new magic rules. These days, everyone in my local group always accompanies the question "Do you want to take a game?" with the question "Khaine magic or not?", just to be sure ahead of time. No one would just accept being forced to play by rules they might not even be familiar with, or have acccess to. The end times books aren't really mandatory purchases like the rule book updates, at least according to official GW staff I've talked to.
