    Hi all!

Totally new to seraphon, invested in the starter set so far which looks great. Can't anyone advise me on good ways to expand this to be useful on the tabletop? I like the look of chameleon skinks, does anyone rate those?

Welcome aboard! With the start collecting box I would build the carno on oldblood, use the skink oracle from that kit to become a starseer. Then set aside one of the knights and make it stand out to become a scar-vet on cold one. Then buy 10 chameleon skinks and a box of rippers. You now have a shadowstrike starhost. You will want bastiladons as well, and another starter set wouldn't hurt, you could build a trog or a scar-vet on carno. I personally would pick up some guard and an eternity warden as well as a sunblood. If you look up prices and come up with a budget for expansion, we can help you for exact steps based on your budget.

    Cheers thanks for the advice.

What ive got so far is as follows:

    Start collecting box -
Carnosaur and Scar vet (can this be built in a different set up?)
    8 Saurus Knights
    12 Saurus warriors

Other stuff I have already bought
3 old school Terradons (hoping I can use as rippers)
    1 Bastiladon

Bascially I just want to be competitive locally with other casual players and not totally power game it. I like a strong theme running through the army.

Ive probably got another £50 to play with before the end of Jan.

Also, my main opponents will be:

    Sigmarines x 3
    Khorne x 1
    Ogres x 1
    Ironjaws x2

I guess there are tactics articles on here somewhere so if someone could point them out that would be great, ill have a look myself of course :)

Well, ive spent the last few weeks reading loads on here. The rules of my store campaign for this month are to "add a unit of infantry or cavalry". We started with just the Start Collecting boxes, no upgrades or anything.

I was going to go with chameleon skinks as i've won games mainly by playing the mission and taking objectives etc.

    HOWEVER.

Month three (next month) is add a 'Hero'.

Ive been reading what the scar vet on cold one does, I mean f**k a duck. This month I should just be getting 10 more cavalry, then month three bring him to absolutely bring the pain!

His command ability on two units of charging knights, plus the carnosaur is insane. And we will still be playing at the level of 2 or 3 units of battleline plus a leader. No monsters yet.

    Will I lose friends?

    :)

with any luck! Absolutely the scar-vet is an amazing unit for only 100 points. Should make for an interesting series!

The buff he gives to multiple saurus units is unreal. Especially when it is essentially new chances to roll 6's for blazing lances and saurian savagery. Im starting to lose count of the buff synergy with only three units :)

With that starter box you have you could also use some of the included snakes (from the Knights sprues I think, if you haven't used them yet) to build yourself some Junge Swarms to squeeze some additional points out of it. I used them in one of my first games and they were surprisingly good then.

Well its funny you should say that..... :)

I managed to get three bases out of them. I used some from a bastiladon kit too.

That works! Back when I did that I also made three because I carved myself some snakes from sprue parts. :D
Didn't have a Bastiladon yet back then but the snakes from the Ark of Sotek surely work, too!
