    Our updated foot hero list:
    Astrolith Bearer
    Eternity Warden
    Oldblood
    Starpriest
    Starseer

    Foot adjacent hero list (mounted):
    The Scar-Vet on Aggressive Don
    Terradon Chief
    Ripperdactyl Chief

I guess you could argue that the Slann & Kroak are foot heroes as well?

If the current rules generally get carried over, then the Oldblood is the only dedicated combat foot hero. The Astrolith is technically more support and the Warden is more for protecting Slann. Both of those latter two can definitely fight, but that's not their initial role. I must confess, I kind of thought GW might bring back the Skink Chief as a foot hero.

Many models that disappeared from GW's site are deeply rooted in my heart.
To permanently remove them would be a really bizarre way to increase my wait for TOW.

GW's rollout of TOW leaves much to be desired. I find that my interest in it has waned over time.

that tends to happen when you announce something half a decade before it's ready

    mine too.
That's why it's bizarre a move in AoS could revamp it.

    New article on TOW:

If you don't want to rebase, you can still use a movement tray.

What you all think on that?

It will be annoying, as it will require additional work anyway

@Cristhian MLR beat me to it!

On one hand, it's great to see the 6th Edition Bretonnian kits returning, because I thought those all looked fine. That means the new plastic weapons e.t.c must be for Questing Knights and Grail Knights. This bodes well for all the 8th Edition models that were also ditched, like the Tomb Guard, Necro Knights/Stalkers, Sphinx, High Elf White Lions e.t.c.

I'm surprised though that the Finecast Trebuchet is also returning, I would have thought they should have remade that in plastic.

But I really don't see the point in them increasing the size of bases when they're keeping all new and existing models at the same scale, that's going to be a real pain for existing Fantasy players who want to play at GW or tournaments. It's a good job I've just worked out how to make 25mm base adaptors for my 20mm square Ungor bases, it sounds like I'll need to make a whole lot more of them!

Also it's really interesting to see they've gone back to the 5th Edition 'wedge' lance formation for the Bretonnians, rather than the 6th Edition 'column', which certainly shows they're not afraid to backtrack to older books in the aim of making armies looking and feeling as thematic as possible. Here's hoping for the return of 6th Edition mixed Beast Herds!

I'm especially excited that there may be something TOW-related coming up at Warhammer Fest in the next couple of weeks...

Change is never easy, but this is admittedly a good change. The "original" base sizes for many 8th edition models simply didn't work well.

I certainly agree that the human models, Ungors and maybe Dwarfs will be easier to rank up on 25mm bases, though I am concerned that the titchy models that actually fitted well on 20mms, like Night Goblins, Skinks and Skaven Clanrats will look a bit small and lonely on their new 25mm bases.

I think the base change size is a decent decision. I know it will be a bit of a hassle, but I agree that it will make it easier to rank models. Plus, it keeps GW's base sizes somewhat consistent across TOW & AoS.

I'll be interested to see the "new" take on Bretonnia and Tomb Kings. I never really played Brets, but I always thought the army looked cool.

IF GW remakes Settra, they better bring the talent to that sculpt.

    I'm good with it.

I'm going to be doing a dwarf army for ToW but I need to know base sizes before I "finish" anything, which puts me off painting them until ToW releases

I'm definitely going the modified movement tray route for my existing armies, being as I have 5-6k worth of lizardmen alone, never mind the various WoC, Brets, VC, O&G, OK, Daemons, Empire, Dark Elves and so on I've accumulated over the years.

Have you ever tried to rank a cohort of Skinks? Those damn tails!

I think that is the best approach for pre-existing armies and for armies that you might want to field in both TOW and 8th edition.

I'll happily buy a whole bunch of movement trays to adapt to the change. The pictures I've seen online of 20mm units on adaptor trays look just fine!

    The Great Plan moves on!

Are you going to pre-order? I'm certainly not to, not because I'm not excited for the new models, but because I'm not exactly a collector of special editions, more when they will get dated by the next year.

However, this makes me think, what do you think our Vanguard box will contain instead? I'm extremely hoping for a Stegadon, but a Bastie will do it. I wonder if they will include Saururs Warriors, but that would mean that they will release it quite later instead.

Yeah, many models i would be happy to have, but in my experience many of the goodies included (cards) are not worth it.
