Good news: Lizardmen live! Bad news: brace yourselves, round bases are coming. See the pics on Ben Curry's twitter feed here
Do I spot rippers and terradons on both square and round bases? Interesting... Edit: Ah well terradons atleast
seems to be somewhat random weather or not the base is round or square..... (skinks on round and square bases)
I actually like how the trolololololodon looks on the round base, good thing I wont have to rebase an entire army to match it for game use, but it is interesting seeing which units are on the same or different bases.
True; but the implementation in this pics is far more wide spread than that one Skaven bell (and, as noted, way more inconsistent than simply warmachines, characters and cav). Hopefully, it's just an aesthetic choice.
I don't like the look of round bases mixed with square ones. My ever diminishing hope for 9th edition dwindles a little further. Thanks for the pictures @GCPD
More models on round bases... http://tozudosadieces.blogspot.com.es/2015/05/warhammer-world-llegan-las-peanas.html This has to have a big impact on the game as we know it. charge arcs? flanks? rears? movement?
How to piss off your customers lesson "i lost count" And then i am actually more pee-ed off by the confusion they create themselves, than by the possible change to round bases (which i am also quite annoyed about). The last time they said it were display models and nothing would change, but you dont make full display armies on wrong bases
Christ I hope that round bases dont become a thing. All my bases are custom made and take alot of work... :/
Maybe as someone said - round bases for skirmish version of WFB so you had to buy every model you have once again, to play skirmish battles and normal battles
Can anyone find the old 8th edition Lizardmen Army Book rumor thread? My google-fu on the new forum software is lacking. I'd like to see what the rumors were and from who so hopefully we can make better decisions about what might be true. For instance, I recall there being a very strong rumor about us getting Carno Riders as monstrous Cav. That didn't happen, lol.
Maybe they have come up with a much looser interpretation of base to base contact?? Vendors like Litko will be quick to provide options: ovals and rounds with a square cut-outs that the older bases can just drop into. Think of them as individual, non-square movement trays. I see some Cold One Riders on ovals in there. My new plastic stegadon hangs off the front of his base. If there is an optional oval base for him I can drop the chariot base he is on on top of the oval as far back as it will go. Right now he cannot get to base-to-base contact against a unit he charged. In some of those pictures showing battles I saw mob formations, no unit trays, implication: moving figures individually.. I can engineer a way to cope with that...
I think we'll be able to use our old bases but anything they sell (even older stuff in new production runs) will be on rounds. I am thinking it's purely financial, not rules-driven. Only one range of bases to sell.
You are thinking they save money on the production side by basing everything (40K, LOTR, and Fantasy) to one standard?
