Hi, Next week I have a 2K game against Skaven. It’s the first time I face the rats with Lizards, I did 3 times with HE and it has always being a disaster. Do you guys have any general advice for me? I don’t have an army list yet, but planning something like: Slann with life, 2 blocks of Saurus, 2 of chameleons, 1 of TG, 2/3 Salamanders, 1/2 Stegs. Any help is very much appreciated. Tony.
The Stegs will probably suffer from spontanious and pain cannon-death. Main thing with Skaven is that you can't count on anything pivotal. Next turn is a good phase to be shooting? Well, BAM Stormbanner demolishes your phase. And with CC, they have Slaves. Magic? They can spam scrolls with cheap engineers. Basically, watch out, and NEVER let the Grey Seer get Skitterleap off, or he will probably screw you over in a fantastic and amusing way. Oh, and weapon teams, pick them off if you can, it's easier then killing 40ish CR to get victory points. Bascially, watch out. Try to minimise how much the game hinges on one turn/spell going off/whatever. You should be fine if you keep a semi-steady pace and don't overextend yourself, because you will probably get outmanouvered.
Take ruby ring of ruin on the slann (just in case he takes an abomination). Becalming cogitation is also a must. Also, take javelins on all skinks. That way the storm banner doesn't hurt quite as bad. Another interesting note is that the dreaded 13th spell does not work against skrox.
