(Sorry if this should go in Army List thread)
So I'm still pretty new to Fantasy and my Lizardmen, not to mention figuring out good stuff for the new book. I'm going to be participating in a league, it's sort of an escalation starting at 500 points (no lords or rares). I don't have all the future game details just yet.
    Link to league: http://avatarcomicsandgames.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1033

Basically, I wanted advice for such a small points game. I'm just not sure where to start or what would be most effective at 500.

At my disposal are (only listing what is relevant/useable at 500):

    Skink Priest
Old Blood/Scar Vet w/ great weapon
    OB/SV w/ weapon/shield
    OB/SV on cold one
Terradon (that I could count as a chief mount)

    10 skink w/ blowgun
    10 skink w/ jav/shield
36 saurus w/ spears (2 full sets of command)
16 saurus (magnetized for either spear or hw)

    16 TG w/ full command
3 terradon riders (4 if I don't use the one I could use as chief)
9 cold one riders (full command)

I figure 15-24 saurus and 10 skink would be a good start. After that I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance for your input!

    Welcome to the forum!

I have moved your thread to the Army List forum.

I don't have the new book yet, so can't help you too much.

With a 500 point limit, I would take some Saurus (with hand weapon due to the unit size). In addition at least one unit of skink skirmishers.

You will not be able to use an Old Blood unless the new book put him under Heroes instead of Lords, in either case it would most probably make more sense going with a Scar Vet with more magic items. A skink priest might be a good choice as well to buff your units.

I would not waste points on a Terradon or cold one riders with only 500 points at disposal. Though if you are worried about war machines and Camelons are still under Special, I would bring a unit of those.

Thanks to both of you for the input!

After some consideration, I was thinking something like this might be a good start:

    Scar-Vet on cold one
    light armor
    shield
gold sigil sword or sword of striking

    Saurus Warriors x 18
    Full command
(maybe run them 6 to a rank with spears)

    11 skink skirmishers w/ blowgun
    10 skink skirmishers w/ shield/javelin

    clocks in at 498

Although the scar vet is terribly strong at this level, I wonder if a skink priest with lvl 2 isnt better? I guess it depends what kind of army you face also. But all in all, I like your list, although id love to see Chameleon skinks or a salamander because of how effective these are if not killed off

no skink caracters means there will be no restraining presuit..
this might be used by ur opponants if they are smart if ur not taking any skink characters make shure to mop up or occupy all enemy chaff with skinks when ur main combat block is where you want it the chaff is far less dangerous..

i'd go with a level 1 skink priest with wyssan and a ruby ring, a small block of 15 saurus with hand weapon and shield, 5 chamos and 3 kroxi. The priest can kill chaff units with the fireball, the warriors can destroy almost every enemy core and if they are in trouble go with wyssan. Chamos can take out a single warmachine or redirect an enemy unit to let the kroxi unit get a flank charge. Kroxigors can kill high armoured units, and you can also have a cheap hammer and anvil tactic with sauri. I also think that rippers would shine in a small points match

Well here's 2 more ideas I could run, I would just have to pick up some new models for them (either Krox or Rippers).

    Skink Priest
    Level 2
    Ruby Ring of Ruin

15 Saurus Warriors w/ hand weapons
    musician and standard

    10 skink skirmishers

    3 Ripperdactyls

    500 exact

    Skink Priest
    Ruby Ring of Ruin
    Dragonbane Gem

    15 Saurus
    musician and standard

    10 skink skirmishers

    3 Kroxigor

    Also exactly 500

I think the suggestion to bring a skink priest for my leader does seem like the better way to go. As for Rippers vs. Krox...that's a tough call since I haven't used either of them before.

i'd go for the rippers.. with the rerolls the rippers have more chances of getting in to combat with him and hitting him. and have killing blow.. wardsaves are far to expensive for low points games.. if ur not as good at making ur LD 6 inspiering presence rolls then krox are the way to go ..

Very curious how the Ripperdactyls would do in this battle. Im a bit in doubt. Its a lot of points that is situationally effective, but I guess there is less to keep them busy and you can move around more freely.

    Good luck!
