So I I have been jumping around playing my different armies and got to thinking it would be fun to play a Slann-free list, but where to start? So a rough idea of what I have these are approximated 100 Saurus Warriors 30 Skinks with blow pipes 30 Skinks with javelins and shields 5 jungle swarms (I have never used them) 6 Kroxigors 5 Cold One Cavalry 20 Chameleons 5 terridons 30 temple guard 6 salamanders 3 stegadons they can be either verity 3-4 priests 5/6 Saurus characters Carnisour Tic taq to Te etto Pretty flexible group as far as counts as models. So what would be a good list?
Re: Help, creating a Slann-free 2.5k list. Special Character So a number of people have looked but no suggestions so far am I to take this as a sign that this is a no winner?
Re: Help, creating a Slann-free 2.5k list. Special Character I don't know about a non-starter. It sounds like it would be fun to try. Personally I would take Tetto and maybe another priest for magic. If you manage to get Comet with the other priest it could be fun throwing them around the board. Especially with the one turn of IF casting on doubles with Tetto. Maybe use OldBlood on Carno for your Lord choice for fun. Put a list together and try it out. Cheers!
Re: Help, creating a Slann-free 2.5k list. Special Character without a slann temple guard are an expensive saurus block so i wouldn't bother. A good tactic would be saurus anvil and then hammer, either a steg or two, an old blood on carnosaur, a group of kroxigor or a unit of cold ones. a couple of sallies would be good to soften up a few large units and some skirmishers for chaff killing or re-directs. If you have come up with a list since your original post have you tried it out? I would be interested in finding out how it went.
Re: Help, creating a Slann-free 2.5k list. Special Character For my $.02 I'd point out that magic defense is critical so I'd suggest taking the skink priest on EoTG with diadem and dispell scroll. Beyond that, having a relatively week magic phase is going to have to be made up for elsewhere, so I'd go with carnosaur/oldblood for sure. He can kill near anything in the game and he is fairly mobile. If you keep him close to EoTG until he is close enough to charge and use portent of warding he will soak up a lot of fire and still arrive in tact.
Re: Help, creating a Slann-free 2.5k list. Special Character Comment and a couple questions: Lizard special characters are generally overpriced by 100+ points in comparison to what regular characters can do. I would not use them. How many mounted saurus characters do you have? Are you ok using regular saurus cav as proxies for characters?
Re: Help, creating a Slann-free 2.5k list. Special Character I'll be running this list Saturday against HE. 1 Kommandant: 270 Pkt. 10.8% 3 Helden: 418 Pkt. 16.7% 4 Kerneinheiten: 862 Pkt. 34.4% 4 Eliteeinheiten: 650 Pkt. 26.0% 3 Seltene Einheiten: 300 Pkt. 12.0% Saurus Hornnackenveteran (Oldblood), General, Echse (CO), Schwert d. Insgesamt: 2500 This isn't definitely something I would run at a tourney, but it seems like a lot of fun and at least against HE it shouldn't fair TOO bad. My opponent hasn't had too many games with his new AB, so I thought i'd take a lot of choices I haven't tried in a looooong time.
Re: Help, creating a Slann-free 2.5k list. Special Character I feel like I've just stumbled across an Oktoberfest menu. I'll have the Sauruskrieger mitt Hochelfen und Sauerkraut, washed down with a Dämmerstein of Tollkühnheit. Prost!
