AoS Help for a starting wanabee player : is start collecting box worth it ?

Heya everyone,
I'm trying to get into AoS and Seraphon looks appealing to me. I looked into the 1k lists on this forum, which seems to be a good start for me, and i very rarely see units from the start collecting box used. Actually, i see very few people using saurus stuff at all (knights, warriors etc...).
I thought the start collecting box was some "must have" thing to start a faction but now i have doubts. Is it worth to start the faction with it ? If not, is there any "budget friendly" combo you would recommand ?

Better value is 2 starter boxes, you will have plenty of options.

with 2 boxes you can have a decent amount of warriors, the sufficient quantity of Knights to field the firelance starhost, 2 dinosaurs and spare parts to buld something else (for example, a skink priest).

Good value.

It's very much worth it in terms of money, but it's nowhere near a full-fledged army (nor is 2 boxes really... you can't field both big dino's and 24 warriors doesn't amount to much). It is a very nice start though.
