Hey guys. I'm supposed to play against one of the guys at my FLGS tomorrow and I want to put together a solid TAC list. I can tell you that warmachines aren't very prevalent in my meta, so my monsters have a better chance of survival in those regards. I need a 2500 point list So here's what I own: Hero/Lord ------------------------------ Slaan/Kroak Skink priest Skink priest Saurus Hero/Lord on Carnosaur Saurus Hero/Lord on Cold One Saurus Hero/Lord on foot Saurus Hero/Lord on foot Core ------------------------------ Saurus w/ HW/Sh (x20, full command) Saurus w/ Sp/Sh (x32, full command) Skinks w/ Javelin (x24, full command) Skniks w/ Blowpipe (x12) Special ------------------------------ Cold One Cavalry (x5) Stegadon Bastilodon w/ Laser Kroxigor (x3) Temple Guard (x20, full command) Rare ------------------------------ Troglodon (don't hate, it's a gorgeous model) I know that I could really use some salamanders and/or terradons and/or ripperdactyls, but I haven't gotten around to purchasing those yet. As I have a pretty good handle on Lizardmen in general and all of my units specifically, anything up there is fair game. So, using what I own, what would YOU use in a TAC 2500 pt list?
What does TAC mean? My first impression is that you're a little lean on bodies for a 2500 point game. I'd definitely take the Spear Saurus and the Temple Guard, plus all those Skinks with your Kroxigor in their midst. That's 3 decent blocks to build from. It would be nice if you had 5 or 6 more TG to beef up their unit a little.
TAC means Take All Comers. And I agree that I've got some shopping to do. I'd like to own at least 30 TG and beef up my HW/ Sh Saurus. I'm also looking into getting another stegadon to use as an ancient and then getting some terradons/rippers/salamanders. Here's what I was thinking so far: Oldblood Armor of Destiny Great Weapon Cold One Slaan Channelling staff Focus of mystery Harmonic convergence Scar veteran Stegadon helm Light armor Charmed shield Carnosaur w/ loping stride Skink priest Lv. 2 (beasts) Dispell scroll Skink priest Lv. 2 (heavens) Cube of darkness Saurus warriors (x20) Hand weapon/shield Full command Saurus warriors (x25) Spears Full command 2x Skink skirmishers (x10) Brave Javelins Stegadon Sharpened horns Temple Guard (x20) Full command
Well I don't have my book on me to check the points, but here are my impressions of your presented list. You have too many points invested in casters. If I were you I would drop both of your Skink Priests to Lvl 1 or drop one completely. You're already rolling with Loremaster of High Magic, so the additional 4 spells that the Priests bring to the battlefield will likely never be used. Even one Priest as a Scroll/Cube caddy is pretty good. With that you have freed up enough points to get a Battle Standard for your Scar-Vet or Slann. Since your taking Temple Guard, it would be most beneficial to have it on the Slann. Might be nice to have the Razor Standard or something, but that's only if points allow. Your Oldblood is a little too expensive for my tastes considering what you've given him. I'd really consider downgrading him to a Scar-Veteran and free up 60ish points. That's enough for the BSB right there and you wont have to sacrifice the sweet Armor of Destiny. After all those mods, if you have enough points left over I would consider adding in either the Lazor-don or the Kroxigor to your list. They would go great with the Carnosaur and Stegadon to provide a little more punch to your tough Saurus blocks. My thoughts! Sorry I don't have my book on hand to check points for you, but that's the stuff I'd look into.
Yeah your old bloods gear could fit on a scar vet. You are basically paying 60 points for one extra attack. I also agree about the too many spellcaster levels, you've spent big points on your Slann so your gonna want him to use all the dice. A little more trimming and you can fit the Kroxigor in, I would also not be afraid to use the Trog instead of the Carnosaur. Hide him in the back, therefore preserving his points, and do the scream when you have a couple of your predatory units in combat. Multiple units give a better chance for "that sweet roll" then he can mop up fast cav and chaff units that made it past your lines. Trog isn't that bad, just over pointed really.
Thanks for the advice! Here's take two. I dropped one skink priest altogether and lowered the other down to level 1. Betwen the Loremaster Slaan and the Bastilodon, I've got plenty of options for my magic dice. Also moved the armor of destiny to the Scarnosaur and gave the Cowboy a 1+ re-rollable. + Lords + (405pts) * Slann Mage-Priest (405pts) (Warhammer: Lizardmen p31) Battle standard, Channelling Staff, Focus of Mystery, Harmonic Convergence + Heroes + (612pts) * Sarus Scar-Veteran (373pts) Armor of Destiny, Great Weapon, Shield * Carnasour Loping Stride * Sarus Scar-Veteran (149pts) Cold One, Dawnstone, Great Weapon, Light Armour, Charmed Shield * Skink Priest (90pts) Dispel Scroll + Core + (715pts) * Saurus Warriors (305pts) Champion, Musician, Standard Bearer * 25x Saurus Warrior Spears * Saurus Warriors (250pts) Champion, Musician, 20x Saurus Warrior, Standard Bearer * Skink Skirmishers (80pts) 10x Skink Skirmisher, Skink Skirmisher Brave * Skink Skirmishers (80pts) 10x Skink Skirmisher, Skink Skirmisher Brave + Special + (765pts) * Bastilidon (150pts) * Stegadon (235pts) Sharpened Horns * Temple Guard (380pts) (Cold Blooded, Guardians, Predatory Fighter, Sacred Duty) Musician, 20x Temple Guard * Revered Guardian Sword of Swift Slaying * Standard Bearer Razor Standard
