Hi all, really need some advice i play 40k and have recently started playing fantasy but to be completely honest i have made a list im not sure if it will win but its the models that i have at the moment apart from 20 temple guard a troglodon and a steg / ancient steg. list is as follows your help and advise would be really appreciated. lord - Saurus old blood, piranha blade, enchanted shield, opal necklace thinky. (am i able to take a luckstone also?) heroes - 2 skink preists 1 with cube of darkness. the other wise egg of guango and a dispel scroll core: 10 skink skirmishers 11 skink skirmishers 22 saurus warriors - full command. thats exactly 849points can anyone help make this any better or more solid to deal with HE or VC. tactics would also be a god send ready for sunday. I will be look at facing something along the lines of. a vampire lord necromancer 20 skeletons 20 zombies 5 hexwraiths a prince on a stead 5 reavers 10 swordmasters 10 spearman i think there was something else and a mage any help would be greatly appreciated.
Your list is actually pretty good. I think you'll be good against most armies with that. The Egg is usually put on a Skink Chief + Ripperdactyl. Maximizes the potential damage he can do to a unit. With a Skink Priest it's not too bad as a failsafe item, but typically you are going to be fleeing with your Skinks at every charge. Not always, but sometimes. Let us know how it went!!
the game type was watchtower. i rolled tp go first so set up my saurus warriors in the watchtower. ready to shrug off anyone that tried to push me off. my skink skirmishers and the preists wondered up the board to start with get into a position that they could kill most things quickly. VC set up on the opposite side of the board. HE started off the board and would roll on turn 2 to see were he came on and low and behold right behind me. the skirmishers earned there points tenfold by taking out the HE cavalry in stand and shoot. i reformed the saurus in my turn to face the HE. In the end i had destroyed the HE with my saurus, good oldblood did most of the clearing up and toke down every challenge he had put to him winning by loads due to the piranha blade. The VC just sat back all game and only cast magic which lead to him winning as he stood next to the watchtower as i was off killing HE. I tried to turn myself into a great fire dragon but failed to roll high enough with 6 dice sadly. all in all i would have won quite easily if the VC would have been aggressive, as the HE didnt seem to be an issue in there low numbers. but sadly a moral victory for myself but a victory by default for VC that did nothing but move all game.
Well congrats! Kinda. Looking abck over your list, you might be better suited to drop your Oldblood down to a Scar-Veteran. You can make a Scar-Vet Cowboy that's just slightly cheaper than your Oldblood and will perform nearly as well. Just something to consider. You'll cut into your hero points though. And no to the Luckstone question. Haha. I forgot to address that. Each character can only have one item from each category.
