Hi There! I've just started lizardmen and currently have: Slaan Troglodon 24 skinks with javelins 16 saurus Gor-Rok For my 1545pt list I was thinking of running something like: Slann with channeling staff, the old one thing that allows you roll two more dice for channeling, BSB upgrade Gor-Rok skink priest 16 saurus with spears and full command 2*12 skinks with javelins and champ 2*bastilidons with solar engine How do you guys think this list would do? Is it a good idea to buy the two bastilidons? Or would I be better going with something else? Thanks in advance for the advice. Crispy
Running champs in units of skinks is never really worth it for what you get. Also... I'm curious about the point limit. It seems oddly specific; is that a tournament-specific number, or just the number you're planning towards? Because I feel like you will probably need to cut it down to 1,500 for almost any kind of matchup.
Hey dude! Thanks for the feedback. The champs are there to fill out the core requirement. It's 1545 cause a mate of mine has that many pts. We're both working on eventually having 2400pts made and painted by October. Have you ever used Bastilidons? Are they any good on the battlefield? Their stats seem fairly poor for their pts, is the bound spell for the solar engine any good? I'm also curious whether coldone cav are any good?

Yeah, Bastilodons are really awesome. Not sure if you want to run two in a list of that point level though. Remember, you will have the Slann's spells to throw dice at. With both Bastilodons, you might not be able to reasonably use the Beams on them both. As far as its stats go, it can really hold its own when it becomes a target. It has a 2+ Scaly Skin for one thing, it can't be flanked, and one of its attacks is strength 10, meaning it negates pretty much any armor save and almost always wounds. It also gets thunderstomp, since it's a monster. I've had it be underestimated several times by my opponents, who send something like a Gorebeast Chariot after it... and regret it later. You don't necessarily want to tromp it into combat, but if it has to fight, it can. Definitely worth the points.
