I'm new to the hobby and have been scoring the internet for references to the wonderful scenery used for the jungle temples. Of course I ran across the wonderful setup of hexoatl. I'm curious as to where one finds the component models to attempt to start a tabletop in similar fashion? Checking the GW site, I can't find any temple scenery. What am I missing? Thanks!
I'd also like to know! I've been passively looking around, but aside from scratch building stuff, havent found a good source.
As far as I know, most of it is scratch built. Hirst Arts sells molds so you can make 'bricks' to build scenery out of plaster or resin, I think a few of those have some temple style stuff in them. Research a lot before buying though, lots of work involved.
Yeah I have a friend who bought the Foam Factory stuff and he built a whole Sylvanian city out of it, and styrofoam is kinda cheap so he was able to do some in-expensive practice with it. You may find that it is worth checking out, though I am not sure how much the equipment for Foam factory costs...maybe I'll ask my friend to take a few pics of his city so you could see how it turned out.
Funny you should mention it. I went to a pet supply store and looked at their aquarium/reptile goodies and found some great stuff. Some was pricy, some cheap. I got some stuff called "Jungle Plants" which are perfect for gaming scenery. I'll post pics if I can. They also had ceramic 'temples' and ruins etc. Go check it out, its worth the trip! Best $15 bucks I ever spent. You can also cut them up to put on individual mini bases.
I agree with Captain Krox. Aquariums and pet stores can offer some pretty nice jungle themed scenery. Some of them you may want to paint or touch up, but can be worth it. Sometimes you can even find some bridges that are scaled pretty well or temple-like ruins. - Lord Cedric
Here some pics (hope it works) Plants: With a few Lizards now: They are also good for cutting up and putting onto individual bases, etc:
Those DO look good. Doesn't even look like you'll need to touch them up much, if even at all. Nice find. - Lord Cedric
