Game tomorrow against Empire, 1000pt Lizards vs 3000pt Empire (George, you better not be reading this! ) We're playing the Heroic Last Stand narrative scenario, and I'll be the defender. For those of you who haven't read it, the scenario is basically the defending player deploys in the centre of the board, has no army restrictions (100% heroes, 0 units allowed), a 12" bubble of being Unbreakable, and has to last 5 turns for a draw, 7 for a win. The attacker recycles dead units as reinforcements. Really interested in feedback as to whether this will work or not. Here goes: Botl'Tli - Slann Mage-Priest - 520 pts - BSB - War banner - Cupped Hands - Rumination - Focus of Mystery (Loremaster) - Higher State (Ethereal) - Unfathomable (Magic resist 3) - Lore of Beasts Hua'Gar - Skink Chief - 142 pts - Light Armour - Charmed Shield - Piranha blade - Bane Head - Terradon Skink Chief x 4 - 59pts each - Light Armour - Shield 10x Skink Cohorts - 50 pt 10x Skink Cohorts - 50 pt So the idea is to bubble those juicy beasts augments on all the characters, and have unbreakable skinks wrecking havoc. The cohorts are there for hiding from ranged attacks, and possibly redirecting. Hua'Gar's role is obviously that of an assassin, hoping for a turn 1 charge into the enemy general. So what do you think? He's going to be fielding a pretty standard empire setup; I don't think he suspects this build in the slightest.
That is an interesting list. I can see it working well. Is the chief on terradon going to be hunting cannons? What do you plan on doing against the steam tank (if he brings one)? If I were him, I would be expecting a etheral slann taking lore of life (to regrow units).
That's what I figured he'd be expecting, too. So I would bring one of those fancy new laser cannons empire has (which count as magical attacks, if I recall). So yes, the terradon is to hunt that bad boy, and assassinate the general as a secondary mission. I'll post a battle report of how it goes.
If you want to be really evil, how about a life Slann with the extra Pd, Loremaster and a BSB with the Sun Standard and the folding fortress? Put him in your choice of: 102 Skinks 46 Saurus 31 Temple Guard Might be a fun 'gotcha' before you play your real game.
haha, the good ol' folding fortress number. It's much too evil, and would completely break an already fairly broken scenario. He's a friend, too
Bsb isn't required as much since you're already unbreakable, so you're paying 65 points for the sun standard. Possibly more efficient to have extra saurus/templeguards/skinks?
