Well, this incredible event occured and I thought I would share it with the community. I was playing against a demons and warriors team up and was being completely demolished by the demon prince and super warrior combo when the demon prince lands 11 inches away from my razordons (2), I open fire on the guy hoping to take maybe a wound off of him as at this point I was just about done in although it was only turn four. So the first opens up firing ten shots while the second eats 2 skinks. with my ten shots 4 hit and I cause a wound, hurray! my opponent goes, Oh Noes that thing is crazy, I must kill it. He charges his prince into my razors who pass the terror test and open up again, a grand total of twelve shots go off, and two more eaten skinks. I cause another single wound. During the battle the prince wiffles his rolls and the combat is a draw. by turn six, the demon prince managed two wounds on my razordons, who brought him down to one wound, when they got some dragon ogres in the flank. The heroic actions of my razordons allowed me to turn a massacre against me into a draw in my favour. anyone else have any stories of incredible feats of bravery and luck?
back in 6th ed... 3000 points vs. WoC. Things hadn't been going my way, most of my troops had been routed or destroyed, i had a couple of saurus blocks left half alive holding up the remaining chaos units, also had both my slanns independently moving (as i like to play them) sticking around giving extra LD and break test re-rolls. However, i had pretty much eliminated his magic users earlier, and had a comet of cassondara cast. heading towards the final turns of the game, the comet was now a tad overdue with 4 counters stacked. it eventually turns up after feeble attempts to dispel it (at this stage i was thinking about cancelling it as it was getting that large...). Land it did, with a 6 rolled for the explosion. Couldn't believe it, a 24" comet - and neither could my opponent, as thanks to some enviable dice rolls, i managed to clear the board of everything bar the 2 slann and net myself a victory! And this was back when the comet was S5! Still fairly proud of that luck
This is an epic dwarven tale, but hey. In a battle vs brets, i used a list without any shooting. I set up fairly well, his grails getting charged by my hammerers- holding them up. My dwarven warriors had scared the pegasus knights of the table, and my IB were still in reserve. Snorri (the dragon slayer) was waiting to get his first kill in and my Gyrocopter was hoping to redirect his big lance. How it all went wrong: His big lance (KotR+BSB w/banner of the lady) charged into the flank of my warriors. He destroyed that unit (duh) and overran into the flank of my Ironbreakers w/BSB. I challenged with my BSB, and his champion accepted. With the 2 attacks from the champion, he killed my T5 1+ AS BSB! The rest of his unit killed some more Ironbreakers. So: at this point (before break tests) i was very down. His grails managed to kill over half of the hammerers already, and my Ironbreakers were doomed. Still, i pplayed on. My Ironbreakers roll snake eyes and hold! Then, the big swing: My opponent couldn't believe his luck last round, and i couldn't in this round: Snorri charged his grail knights, killing 3 outright in a flurry of axes. My hammerers and Snorri ran the grail knights down! The ironbreakers, being flanked by a full lance, dragged down a knight and held. Then, the icing on the cake, his knights fluffed-> my ironbreakers went mad->i won combat -> I breaked the KotR in my flank -> I ran them down! That was a crazy battle. With my mood being high, then alltime low, then alltime high....It was amazing. And ofcourse (in lizardmen style): The Salamander holding the enemy (empire) BSB up for 6 rounds of combat... Skinks holding the enemy (empire) general up for 3 rounds of combat (different battle).. My BSB holding a full unit for long enough for help to arrive 'standard stuff' xP The Hunted
u guys all have some amazing story's! the greatest thing I've ever been blessed with is probably today when my 2 remaining coc managed to hold off a unit of night goblins, a savage orc war boss and some trolls for 2 turns long enough for the rest of my army to rally and come around to finish them off wining me a massacre!
I played 1000 point a game against the new beastmen it went sort of like this She had 2 chariots a unit of gors with hero a unit of bestigors some centigors and small unit of ungors i had 2x12 Saurri 5COC with hero(burning blad, enchanted shield, cold one) 12 skinks 10 tg I managed to get a charge off with my coc and ran down her unit with the hero in it at this point i was very happy she tried to charge me in the flank and rear with both her chariots, but they failed their fear check and dint outnumber so they didnt get to charge. on the other end her centigors and bestigors killed all the saurri and the tg and her ungors kill my skinks i charged her chariot with my coc unit, she lost and fled, but she got away she charged her other chariot and it killed all my coc but the hero and standard next round i managed to win combat and she fled, i caught her and impacted the cenigors, i managed to run them down too. Her bestigors had set up for a charge, but they got impacted by my coc which managed to run them down too. By the end of it i only had my hero and standard, she only had a chariot and a 80 or so point unit of ungors. it ended in a solid victory for the lizzies.
It was me and a real good friend playing a 5,000 point game of empire vs lizards. The game went very well and it was a lot of fun. Considering we were there for 5 and a half hours. It was really leaning towards the Empire player due to my tremendous casualties I had already suffered. It looked like next turn my Temple guard would break and my other saurus unit and I would be massacred. I had a stroke of luck as my Saurus choose to flee from a charge from 2 steam tanks, and fled through my blocks of Saurus and temple guard who were engaged with his Lord and Priest and his Empire Great swords and a unit of knights and state troops. They popped out to the extreme right of the combat. The reason this was lucky was because they rallied, and blocked my flank of the Temple Guard from the Charge of his inner circle knights. If he had got that charge off, regardless on how strong the TG are, they would get run down, and I would've have lost. He then charges my saurus to the front with his inner circle knights. Despite previous casualties my saurus held, as well as killing another knight. Then it was my turn. I blast his steam tanks to pieces with Lore of metal from a Slann and move my decked out Carnosaur Lord to the rear of his knights. I then cast unseen lurker and let the Carnosaur move again, and charge his knights to the rear. I then ran through his entire army with my Carnosaur lord and the TG and other saurus chased and dominated. Epic win for the lizards. The game ended with a massacre on the Empire! Victory from the jaws of defeat! Bro I'm sure this was an epic battle that will be remembered by the dwarves for a many centuries! But as I'm quite familiar with the Grail Knights, arn't they completey unbreakable and can never run from combat?
nope, grail knights are 'only' immune to psych, not unbreakable or even stubborn! i was going to say, how freaking cheesy is 2 steam tanks, but then noticed it's 5k... so not so much . what else did you have in your army, considering how much stuff you could potentially take at 5k
I played a game against HE a while back and although I lost, I had some crazy heroics back then: My unit of chameleon skinks was all massacred except one of them (which I represented by my favorite model!) and just for the fun of it I decided to charge this guy on his main unit - 8 white lions with a mage who were tied in combat with my surviving 2 CO. Now, not only this guy DID manage to survive 2 rounds of combat when flanking the lions all the time and giving me a huge bonus, but he has managed to kill 2 lions by himself!!! We later agreed that he was my secret Ninja-Assassin Cham skink
Hey guys, i had a another big stroke of luck today, i played a 2,500 point game against daemons, at very begining two of his big blocks were separated from the army because i tricked him by deploying skinks and sallis first at the opposite side of the board. He deployed a Nurgle bunker front and center, and by the time any of his units came into to contact with my slann, i had already killed all his big blocks but one, a unit of flesh hounds and 2 heroes, at turn 5 i cast wall of flames and sniped his hero out (used the bane head) he hadnt taken any lords so that was his general and i also sniped his fourth and last hero, by the time the bunker was anywhere near my battle line, there was only 6 Plague bearers left, however in the last turn his second unit of flesh hounds kille my saurri, and my ancient steg. In the end a solid victory for the lizzies. i dont know if this is all that lucky, but i did leave the game with a completely untouched unit of tg and 1600 ponits of my army still alive, so i thought it would fit in with this post. PS: I am amazed at some things that u guys have accomplished with so little (Ninja-Assassin Camo Skink). It inspires me to try some heroic acts of my own, haven't that much luck with those though.
Playing against my friend (he plays tomb kings) his bone giant charged my blowpipe skinks, rolled my dice and on the 20 total dice, none of them were under 5, I shaved off 9 wounds off his giant even after his wound reduction.
Regarding the heroic dwarves: Yes, that was totally epic. 1 More story about dwarves (my first army, so played more with them). Dwarves vs O&G 1250 points. I had 10 thunderers 10 quarrelers 2 Bolt Throwers and an organ gun. And more stuff.. He had 3 blocks of night goblins 2-3 units of fast cav and a very lonely troll The battle: 1st turn, ALL his units squabble bar 1 fast cav. His troll fails stupidity. My first turn: BLAST his night goblins off the table. (he has lost 2 of his fast cav units and one block is fleeing) Turn 2: Squabbles half of his army, troll fails. His fast cav that actually did move; also squabble this turn. So still no reak advance from his side! His 1st block runs off the table My turn 2: kill the troll, panic 1 more block with the General straight of the table. Turn 3: his fast cav charge one of my bolt throwers; and fails. They do hold though! Some advances are being made My turn 3: Blast his last goblin block to pieces (they don't panic!). He now had: 1 depleted goblin block, 1 unit of fast cav in combat with my crew (and losing ). Needless to say, I won that battle. In a pretty fail/epic way. It all went so fast, we decided to play another one. Long story short: He advances, my guns were pretty silent, passed al panic tests. My Quarrelers lure out all his fanatics, and all 10 of them go down... The 3 fanatics then whirl through my lines, crippling them (high casualties!) His line passes all panic tests forced by me. HIs fanatics go BACK through my lines, again with high casualties. His goblin horde charges my depleted blocks and run them down over the course of 2-3 combat rounds. After 4 turns, i had left standing": 2 bolt throwers, 5 thunderers (flanked by fast cav) and 10 warriors waiting to be flanked by night goblins... Needless to say: i lost that battle. In a pretty fail/epic way We laughed so hard that night, it was just sooo funny...The dice gods..fickle bunch! The Hunted
Okay, I think I've got something to beat everything. I was in a doubles tournament today and my first game was against a Delf and Warriors combo, my partner was playing Orcs and goblins. I'll post a battle report for the whole tournament when I've had a bit of a rest but what was awesome was what follows. In the centre of the board was a big unit of orcs with the general holding up a unit of chaos knights next to the orcs were my saurus warriors, who were protecting the generals flank when a unit of 15 Black Guard AND a Hydra roll up and charge at my saurus, I decided to hold so that the big general could clean up the knights. My Scar Vet BSB had the sword of the hornet, but the BG had (no surprise here) the ASF banner. The champ challenges I accept with my BSB, the challenge goes my way with all four of my attacks getting through and none of his. After the flurry of attacks from the BG and the Hydra a grand total of three saurus died. I attack back with 13 hits and kill 9 BG. the hydra and the BG fail their leadership and I CHASE THEM DOWN. With regular saurus I destroyed a 15 man unit of BG and a Hydra, a freaking hydra. oh and throughout the tournie my skinks claimed 4 Ogre Bulls, 2 Gorgers, a Gorgon, three minotaurs, a half warboss on wyvren, 2 spawn, and when charged by a chariot I decided to stand and shoot, shot got two wounds on the chariot and my second unit charged by wolf riders I did the same, with two kills. In the ensuing combats, the chariot takes out four skinks and my one guy left takes out the last wound on the chariot, in the second combat the wolf boys kill four skinks and I kill one goblin, I hold and that let my Cold one Cav, flank charge, roll up, and eat the entirety of the unit (12 wolf boys).
I think the luckiest I have been is when a unit of my Phoenix Guard got flanked by a unit of 4 treekin and rear charged by 3 waywatchers. I managed to win the combat and ran the treekin down (I had already killed the waywatcher). I only lost two Phoenix Guard too.
