hello, Worshippers of the Old Ones! Im interested in the lizardmen and i was wondering if you could point me in the right direction in terms of a list of approx 1000 points. I really like the lore of heavens spell. comet of casandora looks so cool! anyways, i want a list that looks like slann skink priest ancient stegadon w Engine of the gods a ton of skink skirmishers some more stegadons im really interested in the stegadons. im recently involved in 40k tyranids and i thought it would be fun to have a steg-heavy army. please note, im not trying to be a professional or something. i think fantasy looks like a bunch of laughs with its ridiculous magic and slann buffness. and i would also like some guidance with the engine on the steg. my eye was drawn to the burning alignment, but are any of the other ones better/awesomer? im a total noob so i dont know much about dice pools/megic resistance/things like that. im going to buy the codex in late may, for now ive been using the one on scribd, because i just cant wait to buy the actual codex and i want to read the fluff. and what about those crazy special magic items, like plaque of tepok and diadem of power/things like that. what would be best on a slann and skink priest? i see lots of people w plaque of tepok on the skink priest. i was planning on just making him lvl 2 upgrade. any help would be awesome. btw my friends play stoned elves and skaven lol the smilies are hilarious on this forum!
not sure what a "stoned elf" is but ill see if i can help. first of all, welcome to the winning team if your looking to only do 1k, you wont be able to bring a lot of the things you mentioned. there are points caps in the current ruleset for fantasy, meaning that you can only spend a certain amount of points on a particular army choice. for example: you can spend a max of 25% of your army points on lord choices. so a slann would be too expensive for a 1k list. the engine is a nice choice for defense against shooting and for magic buffing, not just the burning alignment. against gunlines, the ward save is fantastic for dealing with that weight of fire. making a specific lore easier to cast is always good too. the issue in 8th edition is there are lots of things to take down stegadons, more so than before. you can make a fairly competative 8 stegadon list for 3k (with a slann of course). if your looking to do a steg heavy list id say go that direction. as far as magic items go, i normally stick with a simple dispel scroll. the plaque is great for the priest because it gets him an extra spell. a popular combo is cupped hands and bane head on a slann, youll see what i mean when you read the army book and the BRB
