Hey i have been playing for a few years and am looking to do something new with my LM. I was thinking with the cheap price of skinks of trying to do a 2500pt Horde army. I have a few ideas in what i would bring but would like ideas of what a good list would look like and would acctuly work ( i fight aginest DE alot). Here is a copy of my current idea any help would be great!

    List

10 units of 20 Skink Warriors with musicain
2 units of 20 SW with Musicain
2 units of 10 skink skimisher
    1 stedgadon with EotG
    1 Slann

Perhaps instead of 10 (!) units of skink warriors, maybe bring it down a bit to include terradons, salamanders and kroxigor. Skinks are really cool... but they don't hit that hard. Saurus are good blocks to stop enemy troops but you'll need more than a stegadon to hammer with.

I would say go for two units of terradons and a salamander or two. Skrox units will suit you well, they hit harder than your average block of skinks. T3 dark elves shouldn't be too hard to fight with that many skinks! Just beware panic...

Sebulba hit the nail on the head... You have a huge amount of units that will just bounce off stuff, and one huge target in the steg. Everyone is going to target that and kill it straight away leaving you with basically nothing that will do any damage and no real support. Despite skinks being very fast, you will find yourself march-blocked, shot down and unable to break through heavy infantry or cavalry.

You need salamanders for some flamery, terradons for some hunting, maybe some charmeleon skinks for the same thing, and a few of your large units would be really well supported by a krox or two. This will give them some much needed killing power to break through a lot of infantry, and when supported by your smaller units on the flanks should give you a much better chance.

I would almost leave the Slann at home.. Up to you if you really want him. Skink hordes do work, but they require skill to play and definitely need to be supported by their kroxigor cousins and faster support units.

I really get understand what your saying im just not sure how to get teh faster stuff while still keeping the army as a horde? Should i be looking at different heros? How point wise can i ahve a Horde at 2500pts while still havign the hard hitting stuff?

Well... Lizardmen aren't really a "horde." Lizardmen focus on blending many different aspects of the army to win. Spamming anything in Lizardmen lists is probably a bad idea.

You may have to deviate away from the skink horde idea to get an army that is competitive... I mean, you have over 200 models on the board which is massive. However, the 200 models don't have the support to win games. Lizardmen support units are what makes the army great. Try some out.

You can probably still keep the idea of your list with 100 skinks.

Dropping to that and dropping the slann will leave you plenty of points to fit the other bits in.

Even 4 or 5 large units of skinks would count as a horde to me!
